I don’t see this story as purely good vs. bad. I think Alberto is scum, and I also think that Kara is not being completely forthcoming about PED use.
I will say, if there were ever a civil trial, there is plenty in Kara’s book that an opposing attorney could use against her. For example:
How many of you realize that the two massages in which Kara alleges Salazar assaulted her took place in foreign countries? Once in Portugal and once in Italy, both times in her hotel room on the bed. She says every other massage Salazar ever gave her was “normal,” including every massage that took place in the States (though I question how “normal” it is for Salazar to be massaging his runners - what a freaking weirdo). This is why there will never be criminal charges against Salazar in the US for any of this, and why witnesses for any type of trial would be hard to find.
Kara also briefly mentions in her book an incident in which Salazar was giving her a massage on the bed in his master bedroom, and his wife expectedly walked in on them. She talks in the book about all the equipment he had in his garage (alterG treadmill, etc.), but apparently that didn’t include a massage table. Weird story.
She also wrote that a friend and a family member both expressed their concerns with her that people might think she and Salazar were having an affair based on how they acted around one another, including a time when she sat in his lap in an overcrowded shuttle van. They also travelled alone together to meets, and at least once came and left a party together.
This isn’t saying Kara is a liar and what she says Salazar did to her didn’t happen, only that a civil trial wouldn’t necessarily be the slam dunk some people think it would be. These two people had a professional relationship for almost a decade. It would be hard for either of them to prove the other one was lying, and most likely why she decided to share her story in a book and not from the witness stand.
