1. She is, but I honestly think it’s for an okay reason. My opinion on Shacarri has been formed by seeing her actions. Yes there is the small corner of letsrun that’s just blatantly racist towards her, but I don’t think that discounts the genuine and valid criticism about her behavior.
2. Not quite sure, I’m not gonna go find it but it’s been floating around for a few days, I think it has 3-4 pages consisting of mostly respect for Chelimos work ethic, race bravery and overall great career he’s had. Thread name is something along the lines of “is Paul chelimo retiring?”
You are negative to Shari as are most commenters on Letsrun so this does not seem to be a good example of how Letsrun praises black athletes and do is not racist.
'As further proof of the lack of racism in general on Letsrun you cite a comment praising Chelimo. One that I can't find and apparently neither can you
Respectfully I just don’t care to look it up, it’s not that I can’t find it. I personally posted in it about how much respect I have for that man so I don’t need to prove to myself that it’s a real thread.
I think universal dislike being a trend towards black athletes moreso than white athletes would be a better sign of racism, not just one case towards a black athlete. Plenty of white athletes are bashed pretty hard on this website too. Lets think it over. If you’re willing to do your research, find me threads that hate on these world class African or African American athletes the same way they do shacarri.

Just don't care to look it up?
How about all the recent threads praising the athletes posted above?

Again, no I don’t lmao.
To make the claim that letsrun as a community is racist puts the burden of proof on you. Calling someone or multiple people racist is a bigger accusation than recent internet culture makes it out to be.
In a court of law for example, one has ought to prove the accused as guilty, not the other way around.
Shacarri is very talented, yet doesn’t succeed. She has proven time and time again to be rudely spoken, arrogant, undedicated, an excuse maker, and overall a bad example. None of those criticisms tie back to race, any one of those could be a trait of a white, black, brown or purple person, so why is it racist to say any of that?
Was it racist of the people in this thread to call Jakob arrogant or a poor sport when winning/losing? If not, why?

I am not content with this Jacob untill he gets on his knees to ask forgiveness to each and one of is competitors that he beats. When he lose he should immediately start to cry when crossing the finish line, but at once wipe away the tears to not appear overly dramatic and a sore loser. He should then smile, raise the hand of his victor, give him an applause and a bow (head at least below sternum). His interviews should be limited to saying "I am not better.". At minimum.
So this is what you do? Or do you prefer to bag the competition and come up with excuses when you lose?
I wonder if in fact he was really hoping for a rematch with Wightman, hence his melancholia about the field "quality".
And let's get off the XC BS-mobile...there is a reason why no 1500 medalist has ever won a world XC long-course medal, much less a 1500 GOLD medalist. It's asking an apple to be an orange.
Hell, Haile G never won senior XC, and didn't even compete in the main part of his career while he was setting incredible 5/10K records on the track and eventually in the marathon. XC is not even an Olympic event, it's like winning the World Half Marathon championship. It will never be at the level of legit Olympic events, unless maybe it were to replace the track 10000 at the majors (which I would be fine with).
If Kiplimo or any other cross country guy wants Jakob's scalp, they can enter the 5000 in this year's World Champs.

Rod Dixon -- 1500m bronze medalist in Munich, bronze medalist, 1982 world XC.
John Walker came close -- 1975 world xc, 4th. Montreal 1500m, you all know.
