Yes. I know that they are strangely obsessed with one runner. Imagine hanging out here for 2 years and not even knowing that the World Championships are this year...
You DO know that this particular thread is about Tuohy right? If you do not wish to engage in productive discourse on the titled topic, there are many many many other discussion threads on here that might tickle your fancy. Hundreds. Why comment on the one you don't like and insult all other posters on the defined topic if its mere topic irritates you on a relative basis? Why did you even visit? It is illogical and distractive to those who are interested and have an interest in accretive dialogue.
I came to a Katelyn Tuohy thread because I like Katelyn Tuohy. I also like MANY other runners, because I am a running fan. I find it weird and creepy that there are so many people here (I guess yourself included) who care ONLY about Katelyn Tuohy and do not even realize that there is a World Championships this year.
You Tuohy-obssessives are a very small minority on this board. Everybody thinks it's weird that we have a small number of posters here who do not care about running, and only fixate on Tuohy in particular.
I've posted three times in this thread. Do you not find it strange that someone (semihaze) with thousands of posts on this board has no idea that there are World Championships this year?
its not that deep dude 😂 couldnt care less about world champs if theres no katelyn in it .. thats how fans work
Worlds does impact Tuohy, just like last year. She has to decide 1- whether to run usatf meet at all, 2 - which event, 3 - how hard? Does she have an outside chance to make 2023 world team.
Last year they ran 5k at usatf, seemed more of a 'get some experience' trip. What will they do in 2023? Good arguments for all options.

She (and Henes) are both focused on it. Tuohy is totally racing the 5k this summer.
It will be very tough to make the team though, especially if Schweizer and Cranny are back to form. Lots of competition for that third slot. And that's assuming Monson just does the 10k.

4:02 this spring gives Tuohy a slim chance to bag the third 1500 spot for worlds. Making the 5k team this year is out of the question.
1) When Lisa Uhl set that record, 31:18, she later ran 14:55 that season (and didn't run faster for the 10k), and she had no speed in comparison to Tuohy (4:19, 1500m runner). So I don't think that the 10k record is easier for her to break than the 5k record.
2) Last season Monson ran 30:50 for 10k and 14:31 for the 5k. Presumably, she is in better than 14:30 shape right now
3) The fact that Tuohy is so close to Monson over the mile, suggests to me that she is better at the mid distance stuff than the 10k.
If Tuohy had a fast 800m time it would be easier to say if she is more Mid d or not. We don't know what her 800m is.
Exactly. We don’t know either her 800 or 10k current times. As far as I know she’s never been tested in the 10k and it’s been since HS school when she ran a 2:09 in the 800. Based on her 1500/mile results of late she’s got a better chance at recording a strong 800 than a strong 10k. Breaking 31:00 is no certainty nor perhaps even a likelihood. We just don’t know what she knows.

This is quite suspicious. This post will be removed in 3 - 2 - 1. But it's important to point this out and ask questions. And if there are no answers, there's your answer.
Tuohy is a second slower than Monson at the mile, technically ran 4:23 too but for 6 meters less.
Tuohy is ten seconds slower than Monson at 3k.
So if we compute it like a dumb track fan like me, if Monson can run 30:03 10k then Tuohy is possibly in 30:40s - 30:50s form right now.
Based on Tuohy's results historically, I think it's fair to say that if she has a long and successful post-collegiate career she's going to be better in the 10000 than the 1500.
Professional 1500 runners tend to be better at 800 rather than the 3000 or 5000 when they were high school age. We almost always move up as we get older too.
So basically I agree, in the right race she's likely in about 30:40 - 30:50 shape right now.

This is a prediction without basis. Do you honestly know that she can maintain a 15:20 pace for 10K? Maybe yes, maybe no, but you have no way to predict without knowing her training results.
