Jakob, Femke, and Laura Muir are three world-class athletes who just show up and run, again and again, and they have all developed very well over the years. I don't suppose that will stop people from talking about athletes hurt themselves by overracing, but it at least should give them pause.
Add in ... Gudaf Tsegay, ...Those GUYS are always out there, always racing.
Are you serious? I thought Gudaf is a women, and a very beautiful one, for me. The times they are a changing.
This should, at the very least, put some pressure on Syd to actually race. When she races, it's spectacular; however, it is few and far between.
Fisher went over to challenge the big dogs internationally- he didn't win, but he actively sought out his competition. Sydney continuing to not travel to meet her ONLY competition internationally is beginning to reek of dodging..
I hate to have to make this post because this thread should be about praising Femke. But, although I think your post is well intentioned, it was nonsensical to consider Femke as any type of worthy competition to Sydney prior to her dropping her 400m time.
Last year, at her core distance, she lost to Sydney by 1.5 seconds. That’s like saying Michael Johnson is ducking some 44.7 dude.
And also, Sydney did the 60m hurdles indoor last year and it worked just fine.
Hopefully, Delilah can get healthy, and Bol’s new flat speed can translate to the hurdles.

Someone please tell that to Athing and Sydney. They seem to not be aware of that.
I wish Athing and Sydney would race, last year they were absent after the WC's and so far this year nothing. I like seeing Bol, Muir, and Jakob to name a few compete on a regular basis. I root for them all, my favorite though is Ryan Crouser...awesome WR this weekend.

It is totally irrelevant. Syd does not make the call. Kersee does. And he feels no pressure from anyone.
No, it's just the race spiders who can't stand to see the white woman do something extraordinary. It is sad because everybody in this sport usually cheers people of all color when they do well but then there's always that select few who make race out of everything.
Is racism dead? No, it is kept on Live Support by the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and those that fall into that ilk.
At her prime, showing the power of the East German steroid system. Coming into this meet she was the current 200 & 400 WR holder, and during this meet in Oc...
Back to the good old days when there was little uncertainty about whether athletes from particular countries were,um,slightly chemically enhanced? Unlike no...
To all the Sydney McLaughlin fans dissing Bol on a thread dedicated to discussing Bol breaking a world record:
SML's coach is Bob Kersee
His athletes have been linked to doping since the 1980s
Florence Griffit Joiner doped so hard, she likely dropped down dead from it
SML willingly and knowingly signed him up as coach in 2020 - since then she obliterated world record
That's all I need to know.
This has been happening on every Femke Bol video for years on YouTube. The comment section is loaded with Sydney fans taking desperate swipes, ones that only serve to make themselves look like trembling fools.
Bol cannot defeat Sydney at hurdles. At nearly 6-1 and very leggy she's in the air too long over each barrier instead of the snappy recovery of the perfectly framed 5-9 Sydney. Bol has always had an awful bent right lead that she never uses other than late race while coasting or during a 16 step mistake. We'll see what her right lead looks like now, given offseason emphasis toward 14. No doubt it will still be a work in progress and far inferior to Sydney's version of 2021, let alone 2023.
In terms of flat speed they are much more evenly matched. Bol split 48.5 at European Championships last year despite receiving the handoff in lane 3, forced to dip inside quickly to avoid traffic, steadied briefly upon traffic entering the far turn, and then looping both Belgium and Great Britain all around that turn. This was at the end of a long doubling meet, and a precursor to what we have seen this year. Bol in 2022 understood the need to take it out much faster. But not until the strength and sprint work of this offseason did she have enough early speed to make a major dent in her overall level.
I posted here and elsewhere that the 1:05.63 in Boston may have been a 500 world record but it was an underachieving world record. Bol was overly scared of the extra 100. New Balance can bring her back next season and she'll bite off another chunk.
The key to today's record was that Bol and Klaver had not faced each other indoors, unlike any recent season prior to nationals. They are very good friends but also rivals. Both were amped up today after training with each other every day since late October but having not raced against each other since the European final last August. Actually they ran sprint races against each other many times during training in South Africa. Meuwly would put Klaver, Bol and Kielbasinka head to head in 100 and 200 sprints that were filmed with the rest of the camp cheering them on. Klaver always won and celebrated. But Bol was wearing her down late. She's so dedicated. The momentum and emphasis of those sprint matchups has carried over to indoors.
Klaver backed off today and allowed Bol the lead at 200. That benefitted both of them. Bol had her foot on the 200 line at 23.5. She wasn't going to run 49.2 if forced to loop anybody on lap 2. Klaver understood the need to back off and relax in lane 1 based on her experience last Wednesday in Lievin. She unexpectedly trailed Kaczmarek at 200 and had no idea what to do. She panicked and attempted a fruitless pass, finishing with a very slow time by her standards. The subsequent days no doubt included self examination and also coaching advice to settle into second on the rail and run your best race from there.
Great WR by Bol. She's on a higher level this season, and it shows.
However, don't forget that Syd has something I don't think Bol can match: the divine power of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus takes sides in running races? You would think he would have more important things to think about. Like a war in Ukraine. Or maybe he just exists in your imagination.

The Lord is not playing favorites, but he has laid out a path for each of us to follow, and those who do will be rewarded.
