We changed the title of this thread. It was initially entitled. "NO MU, NO PROBLEM. Keely Hodgkinson, Mary Moraa and Diribe Welteji in 800 scrap Wed (Feb 8)". You can watch the meet for free on the WA youtube page if you are in Ireland and many other countries. We have a VPN suggestion here.
Maybe internally (and Meadows’ former coach is her coach?) she was targeting 1:56, but the obsession with times is a bit weird. She beat Moraa convincingly and looked well within herself. It wasn’t a time trial.
She looked pretty happy with it. She took the W, beat her biggest rival in the race easily, and ran her preferred way with a negative split running down Yarigo who had a big lead.
Meadows is part of Hodgkinson's coaching team. She's married to Trevor Painter, Hodgkinson's coach and Meadows' former coach.
If Hodgkinson wants a time, she can run from the front at British indoors where she won't have to swing into Lane 2. 1:57 indoors, looking easy, that's a good start to the season
To tell the truth she ran a race for a win "only" I am pretty sure. With her next races also in Lievin and in home Birmingham final she "had" to leave sth for those occasions. I imagine she will time sth like 1:57.50 (or 1:58 "only") in Lievin as the meet has great reputation and will go for a new record home. Then she should go for 56.50 at least at half and 1:56 easily. She should be able to go under 1:56, she should at least try seriously. Outdoor WR is unattainable but the indoor one is.
Then Europeans tactical, she has no serious rival in Europe, easy job.
