Having that said, I'm surprised this is a problem in this post-pandemic era. Isn't Pete Julian almost never around his athletes? Seriously, 4/7 days are easy in addition to a moderate workout, hard workout, and a long run. Do you need your coach on easy run days? Even long run days? Hell, what's Pascal doing? Maybe him or Solinsky or Shalane go down to Portland for 1 workout and Schumacher goes down for the hard one while Solinsky and Shalane are fully managing in Eugene that day. Or a 2 hr drive once a week to Eugene isn't that bad either. I actually see more of a concern that Schumacher won't be able to be at altitude camps as much which is a problem whether they stay in Portland or Eugene.
Collegiate runners aspiring to go pro - If you need your coach to tell you a few sentences of updates in person before your easy 10 mile run or long run or strides, or bike beside you to keep you company and comment on your form, you may want to reconsider being a pro runner or find a coach who coddles you to a concerning degree. But if you're coach won't be there for most of your key workouts, however, that's a concern.
