The ostriches on this thread claiming that you can't use comparison as a tool due to covid, not fair, some other nonsense.
Anerican men live 4 years less than British males on average, 8 years less than Swiss and Japanese men, 5 years less than Australian men. Your make life expectancy is on a par with other non first world developing countries. The US has most the traits associated with developing, non first World countries.
I don't know what bigger indicator you can have of this than people just not living very long. Other countries have obesity, drugs, suicide, covid, etc too. The US has poorer healthcare overall ie non universal, extreme poverty, higher levels of poor educational attainment and little social care network compared to proper first world countries. Its not just about healthcare.
You have extremely rich people and many well paid jobs but you also have far many more extremely poor people, often living on the streets (and dying on the streets) or in makeshift housing than many other countries. I couldn't believe the conditions I saw some people living in when I visited rural parts of idaho and Montana. It was what I would exiect to see in the poorer African nations or parts India. Do you think in Zurich or Geneva or Valais or Bern we have people dying in the streets or living in cardboard and tin shacks? Do you think if you go to Skane or Oterboten on Sweden it's like this?
Overall, you seem to have a badly organised country which leaves many of your citizens in extreme poverty. It seems to be an anomaly in the world today.
