Don’t worry—it will be shown live on Peacock. The link to Day 1 shows up now (search for diamond and scroll down); I assume they’ll put up the Day 2 link tomorrow.
I don't think Jacob is dodging the 5000m. At the current level, he consider that distance a joke. I don't see in any way Krop or Fisher challenging him.
Jacob want challenges.
I mean, he won in Lausanne by a second pretty much with a pace that was quite comfortable for him. In Monaco, Aregawi requested a World Record pace for 3,000 (well faster than Jakob's PB)...that feels like a challenge to me. In Brussels, they were going after a 5,000m time right at Jakob's PB.
Running 3:29 1500s is routine for him, so I don't agree with your premise.
Of course Jakob isn´t dodging the 5000m (or the recent 3000m). Jakob isn´t dodging anyone; he wants to compete against the best. I think he was happy that Timothy made it to the Tokyo Olympics even before the heats in the 1500m over there started.
But I think it is more important for him to win the 1500m final in Zürich this year so there will be no doubt that he is the best 1500m runner of the season.
I would have liked to see him to run both the 3000m and 5000m but we must wait for that to next year where he reportedly intends to run more fast races with only one international championship.
-we should be very excited for women's high jump. Yaroslava Mahuchikh took 3 GOOD and close attempts at the world record in Brussels. That record has stood for 35 years! The #1 and #3 all time marks are from eastern Bloc athletes in the 80s, which was the peak of state sponsored doping when all those seemingly untouchable women's world records were set. Right now these Ukrainian athletes have had to train away from home and family, moving from one place to another to avoid the war with Russia. How great would it be for a Ukrainian to beat a Soviet world record right now?
That record is Bulgarian.
I wonder, what kind magic have placed ShaqIra at 100m finals list?
Couldn't agree more. If Jakob wants "revenge," he'll have to wait for next season. Beating someone in late-season diamond league is like losing a race but overtaking the winner in a victory lap.

It was the people's republic of Bulgaria and was one of the USSR's satellite states (that's what I mean by "eastern bloc") until 1990. Bulgaria had a huge doping scandal in Olympic weightlifting. I think it's naive to think that the doping was only widespread in east Germany or that it was limited in Bulgaria to different sports. Disirregardlessly, it's a record from when the USSR had power over eastern Europe, and that alone would add more meaning to if a Ukrainian broke it.
The prize money in the Diamond League is so little the athletes still need their parents to pay for their expenses. Decades ago the former IAAF Golden League paid $1,000,000 to the season winner or split if more than one winner. Now that money goes to pay the $300/nite H+ Hotel rooms for hundreds of dignitaries and in-turn for reciprocal favoritism to other visiting meet directors.
The Golden League never gave out $1,000,000 to the season winner. You had to win all 6 golden league races to win that, definitely not given out to just the season winner.

OK. So, since western Europe and a number of other places are dominated by USA, including Ukraine, while their athletes are doping on regular bases, all their records should be called USA world records, or maybe "USA world" records?

Remember me of Steve Cram "cleverly" avoided Aouita until 1990, the year when he lost interest.
Yeah, Cram was always avoiding his favorite event the 5000m in global championships to dodge Aouita, and dropping down to the lesser glamorous 1500m for easy gold medals.
Seems more likely that Aouita summed up the courage to face Cram from 1990, when Cram was a shadow of his former self and could only train 8 weeks in the year.
Jakob stated recently that he didn´t think really fast times would come before next season but he might have changed his mind?
If the splits hold the last 500m "only" has to go in under 69 seconds to hit 3:27.
I was surprised yesterday to see that Zurich track wasn't good for fast times.
(a remember last year there was a complain about this)
But who know what they have decided.
Who says it isn't good for fast times? El G used to always run his fastest 1500 of the year in Zurich. I assume its at the same place.
Monaco being a magically faster track than the others is a myth. Its just the place that all the top runners come together in peak fitness to chase fast times. It would be the same in Rome or Zurich or any other Euro DL with good weather.
The first-day schedule will see six Diamond League champions crowned during the street portion of the event on Sechselautenplatz before the remaining 26 titles are decided on day two at the Letzigrund Stadium.
