They are going to be teammates on the 4x1, would you treat your teammate that poorly?
If you're 12 years old you might think the purple hair and classless behavior is cool. But most track fans don't want to see that garbage.
Did you listen to the reactions of Ato and Sanya? They loved it. It’s sports and a little celebrating at your opponents expense at the pro level is ok. The whole Hocker v Centro last year was fun. Loved it when Jakob said he would have beaten Tefera by 100m if healthy.
Ato and Sanya are soft in the head.
There is nothing wrong with teasing and showboating, as long as it’s between friends. If it’s not, then you’re just being a dick, or if you push it, an a-hole.
Back when Lyles and CC were at odds, and everybody was blaming CC and his girlfriend, I pointed out that Lyles needed to grow up. He has made some improvement, but this brought out the worst in him.
He’s the elder, he’s the champ, and he needs to act like it, not like some punk-azz little bltch.
Without knowing what has been going on between Lyles and Knighton, you can’t really judge fully what went on here—but IMO it brings Lyles down a few notches. Too bad.
Some of you are real boring stiffs here. That whole interaction was entertaining and what the sport needs. Lyles saying that stuff with Knighton next to him abd Knighton walking off in the interview was great trash talk. It's not like they punched each other and grabbed their nuts in the camera. Set the stage for a great rivalry come Worlds.
Well, that just got me super hyped for the World Championships. I thought Erriyon had him based off of how comfortable he looked in the rounds.
Noah most definitely has heard all of the chatter in the past year and a half about Erriyon taking the 200 meter throne. All the comparisons to Bolt and extra hype and coverage from media. Noah was the only runner with a bye that actually had the balls to come and compete in the final with the best…and he actually show and proved. Good for the sport in my opinion. It’s going to make Erriyon better and Lyles work harder to stay at the top.
Lyles is insane condition too. Three sub 20’s in all rounds. 19.95 in the 1st rd, 19.81 in the semi’s, and 19.67 into a headwind with just a 2 hour break. He’s a true 200 meter specialist. Shame most people are going to diminish this just because he did a playful taunt with some light hearted trash talk.
It’s up to him to redeem his position as no. 1 at the World Championships.
Rivalries like this make me hella excited! This is what track & field needs!
Knighton is a high schooler.
Remember a couple years ago Noah Lyles was struggling with his mental health? Anxiety and depression. Then he goes and craps on a promising young athlete, kicking him when he's down. Apparently he doesn't give a damn about anyone else's mental health.
Come on... a little harmless banter for a win that was probably unexpected even for Noah at the 100 m mark. Spiced up this already fascinating matchup. Can't wait for Worlds! I'll be rooting for Lyles as it would probably be his last seeing what a monster Erryion already is.

Track was at it's peak popularity when Bolt ran. Bolt always treated everyone with respect, that's why people loved him. Was Bolt bad for the sport for not getting in people's face?
He works out of my gym with his team and he always seems like such a nice guy. But I was embarrassed for him today. I understand game face and trying to psyche the other guy out but that was over-the-top.
Noah Lyles came from behind to beat 18-year-old Erriyon Knighton at the line for the national title in a classic men's 200m at USATF Outdoor Championships, w...
