Disliking her personality or "attitude" and rooting against her in favour of other athletes for that reason (black, white, US, non-US) doesn't make one a racist....it's when you use that justification to make up lies to discredit her talent and make up lies about her that one is clearly a racist.
😂
If there was an emoji of an empty head, I’d post it!
Like I said, she has 11.3 talent. She will run somewhat faster than that, based on prior use, and even on present use—but 11.3 is her natural ability. Same as many other “greats”: 11.3, maybe.
And yes, I believe that there are some continued benefits after having stopped use for some time—but with the new stuff, the sooner, the better.
This is so stupid. You think she was on drugs at 16? When she was running faster than 11.3 in high school? Don’t be absurd.
She may well have been on PEDs running at trials as much as any elite athlete is likely to be on PEDs but it’s silly to act like this race in the pouring rain after 9 months off and complete life chaos represents her ceiling.
Anyway, hard to tell anything from this race. At least she got back to the track. Conditions were awful and her start is horrible so perhaps that can improve if she puts her head down and works. She hasn’t left herself much time now though, and if she’s scrambling to try to put it together for world trials on sketchy training she’s more likely to get injured.
Hopefully ending that toxic relationship will get both women back on track, literally. Janeek was also pulling the “I wasn’t put on earth to run track” business (and only ran 5 races in the last couple of years.) Lots of people speculating she was on drugs in those videos, and that she and Sha’Carri were doing a lot of drugs together. She needs to stop surrounding herself with toxicity, stop pretending she doesn’t care about competing (or quit if that’s really the case and not just a childish immature “I didn’t want to win anyway” tantrum because she’s not winning), stop letting herself be gassed up, get rid of Gatlin who did her no favours with those stupid comments about practice and find someone who can set a reasonable, patient, consistent path to success.
"...I should re-iterate that I couldn’t care less what SCR runs, I have zero interest in her. As far as American women go, I’m way more interested in Ofili, Battle, Steiner, and even Bowie, who I always liked. May they all blow away SCR into oblivion. She’s lame."
LMAO SCR has never cleanly been an elite sprinter. I can EXACTLY relate to talent of her pedigree, I was the same relative level in men’s. And guys all around me at the same level used and got better with that ~half-second bump, even set WR’s.
I’ve seen it all before, up close and personal. And lol I’m not even slightly bitter! I have been faster than all of them over the past 10-15 years, if they are still alive, and I have a great life and still enjoy working out, sprinting, and running. No ignominy, no disgrace, no personal problems, no health issues, no limitations.
And I was doing other things that mattered more to me during Olympic periods, not that I would have made it anyway.
Stop being a fanboi. I’ve got nothing in particular against SCR, I just don’t find her interesting, or worthy of anybody’s hero worship, or even respect.
You realize how bitter and jealous this sounds, right? Everyone who was better than me was using drugs! But lol I had better things to do during the Olympics anyway! And now they’re all losers and I’m doing great! If we’re making doping accusations, by your own admission you were around drugs and hanging around people doing PEDs? And you didn’t report them? Sounds like maybe you were the one with something to hide and on drugs. (See, anyone can manufacture an accusation out of anything with no proof other than “I just think so.”)
Nobody is particularly arguing that Sha’Carri’s behaviour is good, or that she’s a role model, or that they love her. I think she’s acting like a clown and squandering her talent while making a series of terrible choices. I also think she needs mental health help - she had a suicide attempt in high school, has deep abandonment issues with her mother, and clearly can’t cope with the pressure of stardom. And it’s sad to see it playing out in public. But none of that therefore “proves” that any time beyond 11.3 means she must be doping, simply because you decided so with no credible explanation.
The difference is that I would like to see her grow up, overcome her personal issues, stop acting like an a** on social media and live out her talent. I would like all runners to have satisfying careers and run great times and give us entertaining races. And most of this board, not just for her but for every runner, seems to delight in and wish for runners to fail.
For people that claim to love track and running, people on this board hate seeing athletes succeed and get off on tearing everyone down. You’ll pick a few faves for a moment, but then overhype them, expect way too much, and turn on them the moment they “fail.” It’s bitter and toxic and ridiculous.
This is me clapping and saying amen, amen, amen to your posts! Amen!! Preach!
Lol...She is at least interesting enough for you to keep you commenting on and responding to comments about her. If she does not interest you, why even click on a chain about her. smh ..the intellectual dishonesty.
Yeah, I don't get that either. Can you imagine if this poster was interested in her?
I saw a close up photo of her during the race. I immediately noticed her lack of muscle tone in her legs and arms. She doesn't look to be in racing shape.
I asked you a simple question earlier…provide your evidence about her PED use…..You’re so “smart” you didn’t even know Ofili is Nigerian.
You’re not smart enough to know what evidence is, and your motive isn’t to discover truth, it is to “support” SCR.
And obv Ofili is Nigerian. I was referring to women currently competing in the US. Fool, it was me who started the Nigerian thread maybe 8 years ago, around the same time as an Ogunode thread. He was busted shortly thereafter, IIRC:
Wow, he wins Asians, blowing away the field:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBt62UyoZwIHe finally got his start down, notice that he was equal with Yamagata and Su at 50m, two guys who are very quick to the halfway point. He ju...
Personally, I think anyone that doesn't look at the full context of this race, and think it was a decent performance, doesn't know what they're talking about.
This is a woman that lost her mother last year; smoked a joint & got a banned; lost the opportunity to compete in the biggest event yet in her young career, and then has recently opened up about the abusive relationship she has been in. That's enough to knock anyone off track (pun intended). I think some of you are all too quick to forget these are human beings, and things go on outside of track that affect performance.
From a purely sporting perspective, as has been said, the conditions were dire, and I'm not even clear from the video whether she was really going all out from the gun. On top of the conditions, this was her opening meet - for whatever reason - and she ran back-to-back races. She beat Terry in race 2 who as I'm sure you all know, has run 10.9/10.7w this season, and is currently ranked 8th on this season's world lists. All the women who beat her in race 1 were race sharp. This performance clearly shows she is in 11.0-11.1 form right now. I have no idea what training she is doing, but she has 5 weeks to get her act together before the Trials. She can certainly go sub 11 there.
As for the PED doping allegations, one can only go by how she looked last season, what her performance curve has been and who she trained with. It's speculation and nothing more. Do I think she was doping? Yes. Do I have any evidence? No. But I also think most elite sprinters dope, so she is no different.
I agree about the conditions, although my only interest in her is how she might affect/displace other athletes. Of course she will put up faster times than this, and I have already offered the opinion that she could get back to 10.7 unless she’s really in someone’s bad books.
If she does get back there, and stays there undeterred, IMO it would be open season and we would see more 10.7’s coming out of the US.
I am really not a fan of Sha'Carri. I really don't like her because she is a loudmouth and doesn't respect the sport and her fellow competitors (ie, the Jamaicans). She needs a big lesson in humility. That said, she is a huge talent and will be representing the US in the 100 at the World Championships this summer provided she doesn't get busted with weed again.
A lot of you have been bagging on her opening performance but have you really bothered to look closely at the results and see that she was very much in the race? She was in strinking distance of sprinters that have had very strong performances this season. With a bit better of a start, she could have beaten them. It was a very respectable performance from Richardson.
Aleia Hobbs won the race and was just .09 ahead of Richardson. Just about a month ago Hobbs went 10.80 and has 3 sub-11 efforts this season.
Brittany Brown was .07 ahead of Richardson. Brown has gone 10.66 (+3.2) and has a legal 10.99 this season.
Twanisha Terry has a 10.77 (+3.3) and 4 sub-11 efforts this season.
Richardson beat sprinters that have been more accomplished than she has been this season
Now, having said all of that, the US women are in a world of hurt for the 100 this season and may not even medal. But, TBH, women's times in the 100 at other meets were not all that great this past weekend. In the Birmingham DL meet, Dina Asher-Smith won in 11.11 beating out Shericka Jackson by .01. Gabby Thomas was 5th in 11.31. So, perhaps, the US women may not be as far behind as I think that they are.

ShaCarri may have very legitimate reasons for looking as unimpressive as she did this past weekend. From race conditions to personal issues. She has her demons and I'm sure she's trying to find a way to deal with them.
But there are 3 problems here:
1)The hype surrounding her is incredibly overblown. The people in her corner continue to tell us what she is going to do, not what she has done. She has/had promise and has some fast times to her name, but she has not delivered a performance that matters at the highest levels. This should be her mantra: "Under-promise and over-deliver." Instead we keep getting "over-promise and under-deliver." Until she delivers, she will have people rightfully criticizing her. She continues to bring this on herself. Expectations for her performances are incredibly unrealistic
2) She (her "team.") communicates extremely poorly. This is an extension of my point above. Sha'Carri uses social media, but instead of keeping her fans in the loop in terms of her training, her preparation and her meets she keeps everyone outside of her inner circle guessing. If she has issues and she hasn't started training, or she has an injury or simply hasn't had time to dedicate to her craft then communicate it. She would garner more support if people knew how things were going for her. There would be understanding from people like me who are waiting to be critical. And who knows, she could document her journey and create an even stronger following.
3) Her supporters constantly move the goal posts. I suppose anybody who supports something would be somewhat biased in their assessment of a performance. But with the hype she does receive from the corner of the track world that support her, why is it they aren't being more critical when she clearly underperforms or underwhelms? We are to believe she's running fast in practice and capable of breaking world records, but when she's 4th in a race or run 11.2 it's because "it's her first race, or the track was wet." Keep it real, or keep it moving.

That’s all well and good, but I don’t think she can lay off the weed. God forbid she try to handle stress without the drug.
Well, the 2nd race actually looked ok. She held her composure well for the win, had that good front-side action and low contact time, but was unbalanced early, had unfavorable drive angle, and also never hit top gear, so room for improvement technically.
btw those fast but windy early-season times from Terry, etc—forget about them. Races like this are far more meaningful measures of ability. Being alongside Terry and Sant, she cannot yet be counted out. I would say she looked the best of the 3.
