You see what happens when a runner goes off the dope. This man has been reduced to where people aren’t sure who would win between him and Athing Mu at 1500m. Rekrunner should be taking notes on this one.
He is 40 or close to it. Not bad!!! A solid kick he is running a 4:28 mile.
Lagat ran sub-3:55 for the mile at age 40. Willis is the same age as Webb and ran sub-4 indoors this year. Being almost 40 gives you a break of 5-10 seconds not 40+.

for those who keep training/competing, sure, but Webb hasn't. this was just a fun outing for him that some of us were excited about due to nostalgia.
and to those giving him a hard time about his life choices and views, i feel you. not really my cup of tea either and seems like he could've leveraged his success a lot better, but to be fair my life is fkn mess too so i sure ain't judging.
i'm happy for him if he's generally happy/content with his current role in life.
I grew up a huge fan, but don’t meet your hero’s. Dude’s a mess. Just let it go man. They forced their anti COVID rhetoric on their athletes at UALR, then dipped after 2 years to coach what… one season at LR Catholic? He hasn’t found success in anything after running and he started out standing on 3rd base.

my beliefs may not align with his but he seems happy and comfortable. am I missing something?

those 2 never stopped training for the event at a pro level.

I feel like this is fairly typical for amazing athletes? Yeah, some are smart and impress after their athletic careers.
What makes one great at a sport doesn't mean anything when one goes into the 'real world'
I wasn't his level. Hell, not even close but I was a professional athlete that made a living for 12 or 13 years.
I actually thought when the paychecks stopped coming in for riding a bike I'd be able to transfer that energy and enthusiasm into a career. Uh, that's a negative. lol
I'm 44 and care way more about my daily workout at hobby jogger pace than making money and being successful by a normal persons standards.

I met him. He was super nice and approachable and didn't seem to have any ego whatsoever. Just seemed like a normal guy, other than the insane once in a generation talent.
