Hannah Steelman just posted on her Instagram she has been out for several months but is on her way back. One pic shows her with crutches. Recall she DNFd the 5,000 at BU.
Tuohy and bush will have an epic battle in the 3k... Tuohy will scratchet or run easy in 5k
Denner of ND would have to be the favorite, on paper...but she will have to drive the pace to get away from the others.
I think the opposite. Bush and Chmiel in Thurs DMR, Touhy will be fresh in 5k with Hays and kt does not yet have a natty qualifier at 5k, or even any time this season. I think they go for it in 5k, and then scratch or pace for Chmiel in 3k.

Denner the favorite in the 5,000 I mean, the 3,000 also has Ryan who might be coming off the mile, and Chmiel who is running DMR the day before.
Tuohy is getting injured an awful lot, why not focus on shorter distances for track season and build up that speed, her 3K time would give her a good shot at going sub 4:30 in a mile

Agreed, tuohy hasn't run an elite level 5k time yet in college, and she has looked better at both the 1500 and the 3K. So not sure why she wouldn't focus on the mile and the 1500 and run some 3 K's.
I am quite sure the coaches know more about what events the runners should run this week than anyone here. :) NC State seems to have spread the distance runners around in order to try to get a lot of points, but maybe not have the runners have to go real hard in their anticipated event for NCAA (at least for the top runners like Chmiel and maybe Tuohy). I do note that at least on paper the ACC W team title would seem to be a tight contest with NC St in the mix of maybe 5 schools at the top although VT would appear to be the favorite. So NC St points may be part of the objective. I can't believe Bush will run DMR, mile prelim + final and 3000...but maybe I am wrong.
You start off claiming that the coach makes smart decisions and then point out that she may run people into the ground in order to finish 3rd at a conference meet.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I bet Bush scratches from something and does not run 4, or maybe even 3 races, and I bet several run pretty easy in an event and just get a place. Like the 3000 for example where NC State could place many by running 9:10 ish. Ditto for 5000 - can get 2 high places with mediocre times. Unless they want to qualify Tuohy for Nationals - that would take around 15:40. If she runs them into the ground as you say, well then they get what they deserve.
I think EZRUN knows a hell of a lot more than anyone, I send all my kids to train with that guy if I didn't have a bunch of wiener kids. Luck of the draw nothing but weiner kids
But anyway Touhy injured junior year of high school, injured senior year, injured freshman year, injured sophomore year
Ummmm ,....Maybe she shouldn't run any distance more than a mile for track season
She should run the 800 through the mile nothing over that unless she's just jogging it. Maybe she wouldn't keep getting injured then
