Still basically 6 guys wide at the 2 mile in 9:45. Should be a good finish

I was interested in the race because it would provide some comparative info about a few courses. Perez's best race this year was 17:08 at Holmdel, a course she is super familiar with as a north New Jersey runner. I would still say Holmdel is tougher than Balboa and that none of these runners can break 17 at Holmdel. Comparatively Runninglane is absurdly fast which we already knew. The 2019 race was a burner.
Makes you realize how insane Katelyn Tuohy was...
Cook 16:03 at Running Lane / 17:15 Balboa
Perez 17:07 Holmdel Park / 17:19 Balboa
Tuohy's 16:21 at Holmdel is probably worth low 16s at Balboa and low 15s at Running Lane lol
9:45 at two miles…doesn’t look likely to be much faster.
SRs were a bit dodgy last seasons due to Covid truncating the season and lack of data. I think Bill had a general disclaimer last year. That aside the two top girl's seed ratings at Runninglane were 166 and 165, and that yielded 15:58 and 16:03. You need data to establish a course par and figure out historically how a course runs. From the admittedly limited data we have Runninglane is over a minute faster than Balboa. The 2019 Dudek/Starliper race had a 169 highest speed rating,
Gavin Sherry crushing the last hill, but the others hanging right there.
Huge move by Hough at the bottom of the hill gapped everybody.
BIG move by Hough

With the speed ratings of these guys, let's hope it's quicker than that
I stand corrected. Slower times than I expected
Winning time 15:11 for Hough

Hough looks good right now
Easy call, he looked really comfortable.
Hough FTW, but great effort by Pala! Go California D5!!
I am not sure the Newbury boys would have broken 15:00 today. Didn't Bergen run like 14:10 at Running Lane?
This was my first time watching Hough run a full race. The kid looked really smooth. When Sherry tried to break him, he looked really composed. Great race.

But held on - very nice race. Anyone notice that, when seen from the front, she seems to throw her feet out to the side a bit on recovery? Anyway, works for her...
Lots of women have this problem because generally their hips are wider than mens. This causes the hip to drop more in midstance, more likely then for the knee to move in which makes a runner compensate with throwing the lower leg out after midstance.
Vanessa Fraser has the same running mechanics as Cook. I was amazed how fast she ran for such an inefficient running style.
Interestingly, Cook seems to have narrower than normal hips. Even narrower than a guy's hips. So it doesn't make sense that her hip to knee angle creates an odd stride.
Lol so the two guys who "broke Dathan's record" at Running Lane ran over a minute slower here, and ran 45s slower than Dathan did. Hough's winning time is only better than 2 guys over the last decade. Really makes you think the NB Park guys would not even be close to Dathan.

Good point. Bergen and Hough were 14:09 and 14:10 at RunningLane
Yes, btw, Pala could keep up with Aaron Sahlman.
Dathan didnt run this course you moron. Try again.
Dathan never ran at Balboa so not sure how this is relevant.
