Masking isn't futile just inconvenient ... Better ventilation indoors would help more as well as higher vaxx rates, including boosters ... In the US we don't really have restrictions now, just the economic and social upheaval related to costs high infection and hospitalization rates. Our disunity has really hurt us, although practically served as a hedge that hasn't helped because the evolution of the virus to be more contagious. ... Anti-vaxxers scream about Big Pharma when they are fleeced by grifters instead. .... Anti-maskers scream about mandates when they are exploited by politicians who either don't care or know better. ... Contrarians laugh thinking they know better when they really don't, although they may score a point or 2 along the way about government disfunction and corruption... All makes sense, though, as we cope with the worst pandemic in a century. ... I do think though we are headed in the right direction, so there's hope ... It's just going to be a long, hard slog vs. COVID ... That's life on planet earth for humans sometimes .... Do what you think is best, be willing to question your own assumptions and be kind to others when you can, although anger sometimes is certainly justified.

Hilarious!!! Democrats actually believe people are begging for medical treatment for COVID. They aren’t.
Had COVID twice. Went about daily routine and interactions at work, gym, shopping, concerts, etc. as usual.

If you want to point at finger at someone for prolonging the COVID endgame: it’s the unvaxxed.
This is a fallacy. I live in Ireland, which has some of the highest vaccination rates in the world, but guess what? Cases of covid are at a record high. So what do the unvaccinated have to do with it? The counties with the highest vaccination rates have the highest number of cases, this is a FACT. It's direct proof that vaccinated people spread covid at a higher rate. I suggest you educate yourself a bit better.
I myself have been vaccinated, but won't be getting any boosters. They are a waste of time. Many people here feel the same. What are you going to call us, anti-boosters? Can't call us anti-vaxxers haha.
I'm sure you guys would be fine if you had 100% vaxxed (plus boosters)!

Honest question because I don’t know - at this point is Covid impacting your life in any way other than wearing a mask?
My endgame for Covid is that as soon as my daughter turns 5 and gets vaccinated things get back to normal for us. I’ll head back to the gym, we’ll take our first family trip on an airplane in two years this summer.
Maybe you’re asking when do the masks go away? I don’t know but it’s a tiny thing I don’t stress about it, nor do my kids who wear them at school and have adapted beautifully. No complaining, they get it.
Masks ARE a big deal. Stop pretending that wearing a rag over your mouth and nose every time you're around other humans isn't a big deal. It's a huge deal.

Sure, that's fine with me. If hospitals are so "overwhelmed," tell the unvaxxed they can't get care. Problem solved.
May the dark days rein eternally, my virtuous heart rejoices at the masked face, the socially distant.
I want the hysterics to continue, more masks, more restrictions more quarantines. I want this because it'll prove the anti-vaxxers were wrong, and we missed our one chance to control the virus. LIFE HAS CHANGED FOREVER. As long as it remains changed forever I have everyday proof that I AM righteous AND YOU, anti-vax, (likely trumpist,) have ruined the world FOREVER & EVER AMEN.

Yeah because masking has made such a huge difference. Really moved the needle. LOL.

"I'm a Republican who had COVID twice and didn't do anything to prevent spreading it to others in common areas" isn't the "Medical Freedom!" rallying cry you think it is.

uh, yeah we do have 'some collective "right" to live normally'. Are you out of your mind? It's called human dignity and human rights. We missed our chance to control it. In part thanks to antivaxxers and the GQP which has, for reasons unclear, gone all in on the antivaxing.
If we do nothing, we'll get what we get, and it won't be pretty. Many, many people are simply not going to "go back to normal" because they posses common sense. Therefore, life as we know it has changed forever.
What you have above is someone clinging to their narrative despite all evidence to the contrary. He refers to the GOP which means he's talking about the USA. The USA never had a chance to control Covid. The vaccine has been a big help, but it doesn't control Covid. People who are vaccinated can get the disease and transmit it.
Just listen from 1:10 to 1:16. God help us all.
I told you so...

Yeah, okay, but he asked "what's the endgame", not "what solution does the dude sitting at the end of the bar who always seems to have remarkably simple solutions to all humanity's problems propose"? I mean, I'm taking his question in a more literal sense - meaning, he's asking what will actually happen as Covid is gradually brought under control (if that happens)?
Your "dude sitting at the end of the bar" response is akin to watching grim news coming out of the Middle East and commenting aloud, "eh, we should just drop a big-a$$ed nucular bomb on the whole f**king place - problem solved!!" In other words, it might make you feel really insightful to give voice to the idea, but that's not what will happen. What will ACTUALLY happen will be far more complicated, with most of the public feeling dissatisfied most of the time. Just like everything else, really. The real world is complex.
Went to a wedding this past weekend in a medium sized city. Everything seemed pre COVID normal and if I had just woken up from two year coma I wouldn’t know anything crazy had happened in my time alseep.

At least at this point there is a clear line in the sand.
One side, the covid hysteria crowd, wants to mask up, lockdown and enforce covid restrictions indefinitely. Mandatory vaccinations as well.
The other side, the freedom crowd, wants people and businesses to be able to make their own decisions when it comes to dealing with covid.
The invention of widely effective vaccines and coming therapeutics have made the two sides more clear. Now, let the games begin.
What do you think of people who get upset at private businesses that are enforcing their own mask or vaccine policy in their own private business?

I have no problem if a private business is enforcing a mask policy on their own. I have a problem with governments telling businesses to enforce a mask policy.

FTFY.

There is a vaccine widely available that is 99.9+% effective in preventing deaths and hospitalizations. Your talking point is from a year ago.
