Relax, young man. Nobody's gonna take this Jordan's poster away from your bedroom.
BTW, anyone trained in philosophy knows how shallow this guy is.

I'm sure it would break Peterson's heart to learn that barristas and waiters think he's shallow...

lol if you look earlier in the thread I said how I like a lot of what he says, but submit that he isn't perfect and yea, has his faults / says *some* things that are cringy.
He didn't set out originally to do lecture tours all over the place, then do podcasting. I am certain he would have been happy to be a clinical psychologist and professor his whole life, while also pursuing his personality development course. I'm sure he would be more happy to do what he used to. But he's now famous, so that doesn't exactly work anymore.
Sure, I know a lot about him. Its because I listened to all of his biblical lectures. Which, in all honesty, were better than 90% of all church sermons I've ever listened to.
His discussions now have gotten a bit commercialized I guess. So you're going to get a bit of an opinion instead of a carefully crafted lecture. He literally talks about how becoming self-aware is a painful, agonizing thing, but necessary. Because if you don't, you whither and die. What he is saying isn't Truth, but his ideas on how to construct a narrative for your life is pretty darn helpful for people who dont often get that.
The self-help schtick is only half the story and - it's always difficult/slippery to pin criticism on someone preaching self-growth and personal awareness, even if their larger ideology are not fully genuine.
Again, it's not the ideas themselves (individually) that are alarming, but rather the armament of those ideas to pointedly dissect cultural ideas, hypocritically identify right/wrongs and placate questioning/ impressionable minds to feel like they can stand on the sidelines, as "free thinkers," and carry no consequence and no equity in the hard work of societal change and growth. All of what he's leaning into (or pushing away from, depending on your view), and what humanity is wrestling with, takes hard work, pain, sacrifice. My continual impression of his full embodiment is a flavor of the week that checks the right boxes for a particular brand of person, wavering in todays society.
Combine all that with the well-stroked cult of personality, with legions of internet-dependent minds promoting, defending and white washing their guru. Dude's a clown.
Ryan, in all your nearly incomprehensible posts, you have managed to hurl insults at any person who finds some value in what JP has to offer, but haven't recommended what thinkers we should be listening too? Name some and explain what each has to offer. That would be constructive.

Considering that some 95K people die from alcohol related causes annually in the U.S., we might not be surprised at the revelations of Peterson.
We might not be surprised either that right-wing blowhard Peterson is, as usual, mainly enamored at the sound of his own voice.
I truly believe, that we should be able to take fat measurements as well as muscle measurements without any type of backlash…. This data, although is very difficult for young women especially to listen to is very valid …it is difficult for some young men as well as I have seen first hand. I think Jen explains very well in her article, that we should not use this data to make the person feel like a piece of crap, but to show them if you want to arrive to the elite level, these are the parameters…. If you look at the parameters of body fat in elites, whether male or female, most lay in the same group…. I do believe we need to look hard at ourselves, and ask why am I running….if it’s to be good, so people say how great I am but I can’t take a body fat measurement to see where I really am, then I don’t understand. I have a coach and I have a daughter…. But I feel bad for the coach because in today’s age, everything he says or does( and I say he because it’s a man, if I don’t explain this maybe people will say it’s chauvinistic to say he)….. but all this is crazy….. you want to run fast with 10% body fat…. Good luck…. If you want to be elite, look at the numbers, look at muscle comp., look at yourself in the mirror…. Don’t take the easy way out and say it’s the coaches fault….. maybe it is maybe it’s not….it’s not me to decide
Oops wrong thread… old man can’t get grasp on these boards… sorry to bother ya all

Man.. this is horrible content. I don’t know what to tell you if you think this is good other than live more life, have more meaningful relationships, confront failure with dignity. As Peterson well knows, these are just platitudes anyone can spout off.
Your earlier reply didn’t refute anything we’ve said. He said what he said about addiction .. he had done a PhD on the topic at that point, he was already a professor. The definition of a hack. His takes on women are disgusting as well, but that’s another rabbit hole.
The guy has fallen so hard into right wing grifter territory I just don’t even care to try to convince his stans of anything anymore, they’ll grow out of him eventually.

You have never heard ANY of his "takes".... you've heard sound bites and commentary from other idiots on his "takes"....
Why don't you pull your nose out of the air and actually LISTEN to what the man says rather than what other people want you to think he said??

0/10. There is no way that character is a professor.
He was, in fact, a tenured Associate Prof. at Harvard and is currently a professor (I assume a Full Professor) at the University of Toronto.
0/10. There's no way you understand irony when you see it. So, let me point it out. I am suggesting that he does not seem to have the knowledge, judgment, or self-control needed to be a professor. He's out there saying a bunch of stuff he cannot back up. He's not particularly articulate or knowledgeable. When he claims to speak about the truth of certain areas of academic subject matter, he shows that he is ignorant. So, yes, I understand that he is actually a professor. He is also an ignorant, incoherent drug addict who now peddles his sophistry to the ignorant right, the libertarian fringe, and the so-called involuntarily celibate crowd.

You are an absolute fool...
Disagreeing with your ignorant opinions based on a lifetime of research is a lack of "self-control"? LOL!
You should be ashamed of yourself... Of course, being an abject imbecile you'll go to your grave never realizing you were the dumbest guy in every room you ever walked into...

Your initial statement was not meant ironically. You're just attempting to revise its meaning after the fact. You're not clever.
