Hassan had to beat 3 fields of massively doped runners, there was not doping in Zatopeks era. Hassan’s is more impressive
So is that an acknowledgement that Hassasn is doping?

His world records have all been beaten by kids in high school in the US.
In his era, he was the best of the people who had time to train and participate in Olympic events.
2021 is much different than 1950…. today, he would not make it on the national team.
And many today WOULD NOT make the team in 1952-1970 if forced to wear the same shoes and run in the same surfaces.
You guys compare mondo to dirt? Nike Super Shoes to Leather with half nails? So stupid.
I’m comparing him to kids in high school!!!!
The 5k and 10k times in high school in the 60s and 70s were faster than Zatopek’s.
Also, his record in the marathon was a crap time ffs (2;23) … Bikila proved it in 60 when he ran barefoot and then 64 with a more respectable of 2;12. … and then there’s wanjiru as his 2:06 in 2008 ( not because of the shoe, not because of the weather and not because of the road surface).
Zatopek was great for an amateur athlete in the 50s… we’re in a different era of professionals.
Many today would easily make the Olympic teams from 52-70 because the pool of talent is much greater.
But back to comparing Hassan to Zatopek, her achievement is greater because it much more difficult to achieve in the modern era of professional track athletes.
Who doesn’t think that Bekele or Wanjiru or Kipchoge would smoke Zatopek in any race and on any day…. Well maybe not bekele in the marathon if he’s unfit… There’s no easy comp for Hasson-.
Basically, I’m saying his times are crap… I remember growing up, I read that Jim Thorpe was this great athlete… but he wasn’t a great middle distance runner. I could beat his Olympic 1,500 meter time on a cinder track in elementary school…. Different eras.
End of debate.

umm... professionals? He was an amatuer
Obviously some people, such as yourself, cannot see reality.... so that is why we have the message boards so your dreams can become a reality.. even if they are not.
I’m sure many will say Hassan, but it is Zatopek hands down. 3 golds to two golds and a bronze. In Hassan’s weakest event she gets bronze. In Zatopek’s weakest event he wins gold, sets the Olympic record and wins by 2 minutes.

And Viren beats them both.

1972, Miruts Yifter missed 5000m for what ever reason. Yifter said lack of communication but he was placed in prison for 9 months. Five-thousand metres was Yifters better event.
1976, Black African Olympic boycott. I doubt Viren would have had two gold medals, 1976 if not for Black African boycott.
Viren's competition in all three events was heads and shoulders above what Zatopek faced.
With a 10000m heat thrown in + a considerably more compressed schedule, what Viren did was truly more impressive.
(if one cares to gets past the 3 Golds>2 Golds and really examines what happened)
Easy. Zatopek won 3 golds and Hassan did not.

Unsure what you’re trying to say….
Yes- Zatopek was considered an amateur because the Olympics did not allow professionals until the 1980s.
You don’t think the policy change had any impact in the 80s and beyond?
You do know the IOC stripped Thorpe of his medals because he was considered a professional, right?
Though the medals were reinstated over 70 years later…
Tracks, shoes (speak up, all you shoe fetishists!), pharmaceuticals, training methods, competition numbers....His form alone would have tanked most runners today!
Zatopek by a landslide!
P.S. the topic key was"impressive".
