TC will be back once his hamstring is fully recovered. With the new shoes, both can sun 3:25 low?????

He is just a father and a coach.. He has almost no contacts in the sport internationally. How could he put something like that together? This is all about a strict regime over years and years. Very strict. No cheating, It's not like you can buy drugs at every corner in Norway. You risk too much even asking for it. Someone would tell.
Love that from Gjert tbh. About time we get some spicy rivalries, we barely had any since Kemboi vs France.

Do you think this is accurate?
Interesting that his father feels the need to say that.
More interesting that he believes it is true.
And very telling that he feels the need to believe it is true.
The best response I've ever read on here so far :D
Since the loss at the Kenyan trials and inspite of winning with a fast time in Monaco, Tim has not been the same. His third place at the semis should his vulnerability. His loss at the finals to Jakob was therefore not a surprise. This is not to take away from Jakob's brilliant run at all. Jakob deserved his win. But with Tim, I hope he takes a break for the remainder of the season and you can bet he will come back for 2022f to set the record once for all that he is greater than Jakob at least for now.

It's not just the shoes, it's the new Monaco track which was relaid with the same technology as the Tokyo track before the 2020 DL meet.
At Monaco 2020, Tim blasted the first couple of laps at an insane pace, and Jakob was some way back leading the chasing group. So Tim had ridiculous pacing, and Jakob effectively front ran almost the entire race, and yet both still ran 3:28 (and Jake Wightman ran 3:29).
This year, neither were at their best, particularly Jakob, but still ran 3:28 again (and Katir).
So we're still to see Tim and Jakob at their best on the new Monaco track.
World record for sure next year at Monaco.

I mean Jakob will have access to all the drugs Gjert can buy so I don’t doubt he will remain on top.
One can often read these reports from the gutter. The closing of the american mind.

Worked perfectly for Jakob! What a talent. He’s only getting better. Would love to see him go for the 5000m at the next Olympics or possibly doubling if the schedule allows.
Coe has said several times that the 2022 Worlds schedule will be set up to allow for more athletes to attempt the “traditional doubles” (his words).
I have assumed this means
100-200
200-400
400-800 (although that’s not very traditional)
800-1500
1500-5000
5000-10,000
Don’t know how the 100/110h, 400h, and 3kSt play into any traditional doubles, if at all.
Please the schedule has been public for a long time. Ready for dobling 1500 and 5000.

Get the numbers right. Jakob 3.29,25 in Monaco.
I love how they trigger people. Keep at it Jakob and Gjert. Thanks for making the sport interesting again.
No more super slow and kick debacles like the 1500 in Rio
No more saying we can’t beat the East Africans because they have more “talent.”
No more distance runners and their coaches lacking personality.
Jakob has just begun to turn the distance running world upside down. Getcha popcorn ready haters!!!

I think he’s right though, Jakob is still improving
Well he’ll have to improve just a little more to beat Tim’s PB. Today he moved from 7th on the all time list to…. 7th on the all time list. Brilliant run, but he drafted off a guy who can’t even count the number of races he has run that fast on one hand. Slow down, Jakob will lose again, and he will lose to many more than just Tim.
Letsrun... Where Jakob gets criticized for running too fast a winning time and Centro gets criticized for running too slow a winning time.
Completely classless. Come to think of it, Jakob running off to do his victory thing without even acknowleding Tim was classless too.
I am on Team Cheryuiyot going forward.

Usain Bolt running off after his victory was even more classless. Jakob actually aknowledged the others with a pat on the back just after finishing, before running off to celebrate, Usain didn't even care to stop at all.

Jakob is clearly a generational talent, but his father had better shut up.
These posts are why I don't come to letsrun anymore. So much bitterness, and weird takes. Father builds up rivalry AFTER son wins Olympic Gold. He's got a right to now. Just chill your nutz in some ice water. It's okay to build up hype, and a rivalry.
And it’s a straw man argument anyway. He answered a question and they showed Tim heaps of respect.
They both run 3:27 in Monaco next year if healthy.
Just because his coach/father has said that does not mean that Jakob thinks that. He will want to win every race in the future and as Olympic champion, he is the new person to beat. However, something would have to go seriously wrong with Tim for him to not beat Jakob again in a race. Jakob's new PB is only four hundredths of a second behind Tim's and he ran it in an Olympic final. That makes his best-ever performance better than Tim's over 1500M in my opinion. But without Tim pacing him in the final it is very unlikely that Jakob would have run that fast. They seem to have a good relationship of respect to me. I think they will help push each other to even greater feats in the future and are both lucky that they have each other. They will hopefully create a renaissance in middle distance running like Coe and Ovett did in the 80's but without the dodging of racing against each other.
Not as hilarious as a guy pretending to be Kenyan and repeatedly posting after promising to never do so again.

Oh pray tell, what am I?
Never say never. :-)
Makes a rematch a bigger seller at least.
I know it comes off as arrogant but I agree with Gjert. Jakob is only 20 years old. He’s just beginning his prime. Tim is not the dominant self he was two years ago. A lot has changed in two years and Jakob could not lose for at least a decade.
