Someone I was talking to at the meet was saying MIT hasn’t even raced their new guy “Mekbib from Ethiopia“ who could potentially strengthen their chance at podium.

Might be poo-pooing the Engineers a little too much, but what I’m saying is the competition at the meet wasn’t really peak national caliber. It appears that MIT blew everyone out of the water and yeah MIT is clearly the best team who raced, but their only competition was a handful of mid-upper tier teams who’ll probably finish between 6-16th at nationals, so I’m wary about extrapolating their performance today to a race against the best of the best. I’d be very surprised if anyone who raced there today besides MIT podiums in November.
And to your point about them winning 2019 in a landslide, yes they would have won by about ~20 points if you take their times today and drop them into the results from 2019, but anyone who was there knows how crappy the conditions were in 2019. I wasn’t at prenats but I saw a forecast of mid 70s, cloudy, but not rainy. I can’t imagine they were as bad today so I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. Anybody there know how good the conditions were today?
I agree MIT results today doesn't establish them as favorites or anything, but they are certainly a podium threat after today's performance which is all I (who first posted about their result) claimed. Also yeah conditions at 2019 nationals were not conducive to running fast so comparing times is not helpful.
How useful is it to be dominant on October 2nd 🤔
Honestly, any of the top 4 teams could win.
heard the pomona-pitzer team is out w/ covid??? can anyone confirm
can confirm, will be back though

Big weekend... #1 Wartburg against #2 Pomona-Pitzer. Or maybe not?
LA county rules screwed PP last weekend but able to travel to Augustana without issue. Gonna be a dogfight on Saturday

Damn, we got #1 wartburg vs #2 pp at Augustana, AND #3 williams vs #4 mit at conn college. Gonna be an exciting weekend for sure!
Oberlin should also have some good competition. If I’m not mistaken, John Carrol, La-Crosse, Osh Kosh, Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, and probably some other highly ranked team will be there.
And Connecticut College, too. Williams, MIT, RPI, Middlebury, Amherst, etc. should be a really good race.
NCC and WashU will also be at Augustana.
Rowan has Geneseo and a bunch of teams ranked in the 20's. Anyone going to Lewis & Clark? What are the other big meets? La Crosse is hosting. I doubt they travel to Oberlin. Whitewater will be there.

1. Augustana Invitational (7 teams): No. 1 Wartburg, No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer, No. 10 WashU, No. 12 North Central (Ill.), No. 14 UChicago, No. 22 Otterbein and No. 30 Calvin
2. Connecticut College Invitational (8 teams): No. 3 Williams, No. 4 MIT, No. 16 RPI, No. 18 Middlebury, No. 23 Bates, No. 28 Amherst, No. 32 Connecticut College and No. 34 WPI.
3. Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble (5 teams): No. 7 John Carroll, No. 8 UW-Whitewater, No. 17 Carnegie Mellon, No. 19 UW-Oshkosh and No. 26 Case Western Reserve
4. Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle (7 teams): No. 5 SUNY Geneseo, No. 13 Johns Hopkins, No. 20 Lynchburg, No. 21 Haverford, No. 24 St. Olaf, No. 33 Rowan and No. 35 Christopher Newport.
I know Carleton will be at Lewis and Clark.

You’re right. Mixed the two up, that’s my bad.
Wartburg is REAL good
Only a 7 point spread between peepee and fartburg today, and pp coming off two weeks interrupted by covid protocol. Natties is a coin flip at this point
Rowan and CNU both got clapped at Rowan, any big surprises from the other invites?
Also, Lynchburg pretty soundly beat Hop for 2nd, who barely edged Haverford by 1 point. St Olaf was a little ways back in 5th. Geneso won easily, no surprise there
