Yes, certainly. If Kincaid, Lomong, Centro, McGorty, & Fisher did not exist. Yes.
Have any of those guys aside from Kincaid run within 5 seconds of Bor’s time today?
Check back on Saturday and we'll see

Yeah I’m stickin by this, I looked it up at WA and this is the fastest an American has run in the last year by 5+ seconds indoors or out with the exception of Lomong, and Lomong will likely be running the 10,000. I think Bor would be the 5000 favorite right now.
I think it's hard to say he's the favorite when there is a race in just a couple of days where we'll get to see a bunch of runners that were around 13:10 last summer get to race again for a really fast time. Especially when several of them ran 27:15 or faster just a week or two ago. Keep in mind, the Trials are in a few months, and we're in a time where most pros haven't gotten a chance to run an indoor 5k this year.
World Athletics says Bors time was worth about 1240 points, while Fisher and Kincaid's 10k time was worth a bit over 1200, so it's possible he's in crazy good shape, but to call him the favorite over Fisher who has been running huge PBs consistently, and has a chance to lower his 13:10 by a ton this weekend, and Kincaid, who just threw down a huge 10k pb and has already run 12:58 isn't a great call. If someone bet me money Bor would run a 5000 run a week from now, I'd put my money that one of the BTC guys running this weekend would beat him.
Otherwise put, if Bor didn't race today, and instead hopped in the 5000m this weekend (or doubled back) I think he wouldn't win. I'd bet he wasn't even top 3. I guess we'll see how fast the BTC guys are this weekend though.

Go away nobody wants the bowerman dopers as part of our country.
Rupp is the best 5000 runner in the USA as was just proven again.
I saw that run and he was just casually trotting along easy. Give the guy credit!

Pretty sure you asked who's the best 5000 runner in the USA, and not who will run what and when.
Kincaid may be running the 5000 in the trials so if he is Bor is not winning. Fisher & McGorty were not given an ideal time trial 5000 like today but given that they are worlds ahead of Bor in both the 1500 & 10000 it is easy to guess who is faster in the 5000.
Also Bor runs much faster indoors than he does out. He has no chance.

Kenyan bor has done this the last few years, only to miss outdoor championships. Doesn’t matter if you get into top shape in March then get injured before the real show. He still is behind Chelimo and many more in an actual race.

Except he just did beat Chelimo in an actual race, where Chelimo thought he in AR shape, so....
Basically a WCAP recruiting video. Where's our resident WCAP hater?
Good to see Michael Jordan doing well. Gassed him in basic :)

Thanks for telling us you're an easily triggered, redneck Trumper, Rojo Bot. Go back to your Bible and guns

I’m hoping that the grammar and spelling application is addressed in your next systems update, Rojo Bot.
Are the LRC guys okay? Seemed like there was a lot of chirping/snippiness going on during the broadcast. Maybe instead of a seminar on racism you could go do some sort of healing retreat or something.

I just don’t see how Chelimo can do it UNLESS the shoes and fast track are worth 10 seconds. Chelimo has been a tremendous racer but I have not seen him as a time trial specialist. Nonetheless it is good for the sport and good for you guys for covering it.
If he doesn't get it then I think it confirms the shoes don't make you 10 seconds faster in a 5k... Chelimo should be within 10 seconds from this record no matter what if he is actually in good shape right now. So if he doesn't get it WITH the shoes, then if the shoes make you 10 seconds faster then he's 13:11 pace or worse with the old shoes, which is unlikely.

Well the shoes are not likely worth 10 seconds in a 5000m. However, we do not know the precise condition Paul is in and so we really cannot say what he would have run with the older shoes yesterday. Let us say the shoes are worth 6.25 seconds in a 5000m for a runner like Paul. This is possible of course BUT we really have no way of knowing that based on yesterday. Also IF the shoes are worth, let us say roughly .5 second per 400m, at some point we shall be ridiculous repeating that over and over when everybody is wearing them. My post really was intended to convey that I really did not think Paul was in 13 flat shape now but of course I would not have thought that the Oregon milers were in 3:50 shape either or that KT was in 27:17 shape.
Not interested in watching transplants compete for USA.
In any event, from any country.
runningmagazine.ca got it right. In their article
"If Bor was an American, it also would have given him the number two spot on the American all-time record list behind Rupp."
