amazing is going to starbucks and getting your latte free because your the 1,000 customer not what kenny b has achieved in his short career.
Kenny B. hasn't been seriously challenged at all this year. Bekele teammates ran with him in this world leading 5000m and 10000m but was never a threat to his victory. Will he be challenged in his upcoming 5000m and what do you think he will run. I saw he might be taking another WR shot in 12:35.7 and get it.
u day dreamer man!
if he attends the 5k, it will be him in a fast race or songok in a slower race who wins. but 12:35 iz somethn crazy. 12:40-45
the 10k will be more interesting with dinke and kenny

I think I concur with you on this.
Vipam,
If you can read me, what do you think about what Hewa wrote about Songok and Bekele.
I am also of the opinion that in a very fast 5k, no one can beat or even come close Bekele.
However, in a reasonably fast race, 12:50 or thereabout, I believe he'd lose to some runners like Choge, may be Mottram, Kipchoge, El G of course e.t.c.
That tells me that he (Bekele) shouldn't waste his time doubling because the best he can get is maybe a silver. Now, silver isn't bad for his someone of his stature, he should emulate El G and get double gold.
correction,
I meant Songok, not Choge.

Its just my opinion but I feel that the only thing that could stop Bekele from getting two golds is he gets injuried or employ bad tactics again. Kenenisa is definitely in great conditioning and with the schedule of the World Championships:
10000m Final......Day 3
5000m semi........Day 6
5000m Final.......Day 9
it very generous to the 5000m/10000m doublers. Hicham, Isaac Songok, Craig Mottram are all capable of 12:50 this year in an even paced race but with that said its still Kenenisa Bekele to lose. If he and his countrymen keep the pace sub 13 and then he does a long drive home, like when he ran his WR and his 5000m and 10000m this year, it will be nearly impossible to beat him.
K. Bekele's schedule does seem favorable but still not as favorable as the women's 5000m/10000m for Tirunesh or 10000m/Marathon for Paula. Its good for track and field that there are so many do-able doubles but how many besides Hicham, Kenenisa, Tirunesh, and Paula will try. The Steeple and 5000m is possible but bet no takers. Get 'er done Paula.
Thanks.
Wow! The program is really generous. It'll be interesting though whatever Bekele decides to do. My prayer is that he doubles to make the race more exciting.
Who is Kenenisa Bekele?
I expected a faster race but Craig Mottram didn't surprised me as I expected him to finish 2nd the guy is incredible. If Mottram stays healthy and get in the right race he is capable of 12:48-12:53 this year.
Bekele saying he is almost near his best is not good for those facing him at the World Championships. The only way they can hope to beat him is he is befelled by injury or poor tactics (which should't but always could happen).

End this thread.
Bekele has broken the WR's. Enough. If you need to discuss a race, start a new thread. You don't need to bump the stupid thread every time Bekele defecates. If you are trying to break some record with this thread it won't happen.
You don't like the thread then don't read or post on it genius! There are some athletes who deserves threads devoted to them like Kenny B., Hicham El, Paula R, Yelena I., and Haile G.
Vipam, it was just announced Kenny B. will be doubling along with Tirunesh D for the Ethiopian women. Who do you think can stop Kenny B in the 5000 and 10000m and who do you feel stand in Tirunesh way of the double?
Kenenisa Bekele is still my pick for both the 5000m and 10000m Gold; however, if he creates a mistake I feel Iaasc Songok and Eliud Kipchoge could be the only thing to prevent him from the double. Tirunesh Dibaba should win the 10000m Gold if Hunia Xing isn't really in top shape but Berhane Adere, Paula Radcliffe, and Edith Masai should make it interesting. In the 5000m hopefully someone will take it out very quick and burn some speed out of Meseret Defar and Tirunesh could then take both the 5000m and 10000m.
Kenenisa Bekele and Tirunesh Dibaba are both fit enough to take both races but they will have to excute great tactics. The talent is too great for either of them to create more than one mistake in their second race.
This days it is difficult to be sure who is going to win for 5000 in boh case.
once again, it will be hard for k.bekele to get the 5000 mr as there are couple of Kenayen and ethiopian are in great form. Issac songok, eluid kipchog, tariku bekele, dejene berihanu are in grat form.
let us not forget also that bekele is expected to qulify for the first 5000 mr heat all this will make a diffrence.
Therfore, i say issac songok, however it will not be an easy one.
ETHIOPIAN running phenomenon Kenenisa Bekele goes to Helsinki with a great chance of completing a double in the 5000m and 10,000m.
Bekele, named by track and field's governing body the IAAF as male athlete of the year in 2004, won the 10,000m at the last world championships in Paris in 2003 in only his second attempt at 10km.
But he finished third in the 5000m behind winner Kipchoge Eliud of Kenya and Moroccan Hicham El-Guerrouj.
At last year's Olympic Games in Athens, the 23-year-old Bekele again won the 10,000m but lost out to El-Guerrouj in the 5000m.
That was the Ethiopian's sole defeat in 2004. Before the Games, Bekele had set two new world records in the space of eight days.
On May 31, at Hengelo in the Netherlands, he smashed the 5000m mark in 12min 37.35sec and then, on June 8 at Ostrava in the Czech Republic, he lowered the 10,000m record to 26min 20.31sec.
Bekele, who has had to overcome the tragic death of fiancee and training partner Alem Techale - the 2003 world youth 1500m champion - from a heart attack in January, certainly has a high-class pedigree.
In March this year he wrapped up the short- and long-course world cross-country races in Paris for a remarkable fourth successive year.
On the track, Bekele failed in his attempt at this summer's first Golden League meet in Paris at reducing his own record for the 5000m, coming home in 12:40.18, still the fourth best time ever.
Kenyan pace-making duo Martin Keino and Shadrack Korir set Bekele up at a record-breaking 7min 32sec at the 3km mark, but the Ethiopian was left to his own devices with four laps to go and ran out of gas.
Born on June 13, 1982, near Bekoji in Ethiopia's Arssi Province, the same region his great predecessor Haile Gebrselassie hails from, Bekele weighs just 54 kilos and stands only 1.60m tall.
His Olympic victory in the 10,000m signalled the end of Gebrselassie's remarkable career at that distance.
Bekele's astonishing injection of pace as he approached the last lap bell drew gasps from the crowd in Athens and he sprinted over the line in an Olympic record time of 27min 05.10sec.
At the world cross-country championships in Paris in March, Bekele admitted that his dead fiancee, Alem, had been very much in his thoughts.
"I did think about Alem, of course. But I didn't lose her, she is in my heart.
"This win is much more significant than the Olympic title because I really suffered after her death."
