This thread is a great example of how rumors evolve. If you look at the first 200 posts in this thread there is absolutely not a single statement about an inferred positive, gray zone items, biologic passport etc.. Finally on page 11 or 12 that general concept is brought up. Now, we've got to the point where some are now accepting that as fact, assuming NOP is using xenon gas, etc. The original claim in this thread was that Centroa had failed a drug test and that was why he hadn't been racing. A giant game of telephone later and here we are...
You actually DO get it.
Tyrannosaurus Rexing wrote:
U Don't Get It wrote:Yes, it is one now. And you don't still get it. That fact raises some serious questions about your IQ.
And I guarantee that Centro sees this as laughable.
I agree much more with lax than you. Or should we all just bow down to the all-knowing "U Don't Get It", who DOES in fact "get it", and knows
a) EXACTLY how centro (or any athlete for that matter) feels about facing some fairly intense rumors about him being a cheater
b) EXACTLY how every person who is reading this thread is reacting to it ("laughing!"), and how it is shaping their opinion of centro
c) EXACTLY what ramifications will occur in the future because of such rumors (and remember, these are rumors on top of rumors on top of rumors, dealing with Alberto's guys (centro part of that) and NIKE's evil ways (centro part of that) ). That no damage whatsoever to his image can occur because of "laughable" rumors. NONE!
So no one has ever been hurt by a rumor about their dishonesty, infidelity, or any other kind of cheating?? It's never happened in history? Wow, news to me!
(and yes, these particular rumors have certainly been given more weight than your typical scribbling on a bathroom wall. A) they are on the WORLD WIDE web, for all to see b) they are on the biggest running site in the world (of which there are not many c) contrary to past moderation by site, they have been allowed to stand for quite a bit d) they were initially not commented on at all by brojos, making it seem as if there "must be smoke where there is fire" e) they have been said to not have started here, but begun in the "inside" track circles that the brojo's supposedly inhabit. f) they are connected to recent olympic PED news (Xenon) g) there are number of people saying "I know for a FACT he was using, I am an insider" (often such posts are deleted, but here they remain) h) as I stated, centro is already stained by the PED rumors/accusations connected to Salazar and NIKE, since he is part of that group. And those accusations have been made by some of the biggest in the sport!
So, yes, if centro is completely clean, and now many believe he *very well might be a doper*, he has been unfairly tarnished, and no, he and no one else connected to him will think it is completely a big, fat joke. But I know, I know, the rest of us "DON'T GET IT." Great, thanks for that).
OK, so you still don't understand what you are witnessing on this thread. Ok, I understand that.
Hilariously unfortunate but remarkably common

It is amazing. It is the paranoid, hypothetical-loving, butterfly effect, everything is subjective people who cling to the belief that a pro athlete's career is damaged because of the way a few 17 year olds on the internet perceive him.

Not putting this on Centro because he is relatively new to NOP. But the use of "legal" (and likely illegal) performance enhancers has been suspected for quite some time. Seems like the only ones defending Nike are affiliated with Centro or NOP. The silence from the NOP camp speaks louder to me than anything. This is Lance Armstrong all over again. I have come to hate Nike with a passion and will never buy anything Nike again.
Just curious if you're suspicious of the other Nike group (Schumacher) as well? And other Nike-sponsored athletes... Leer, Torrence, etc.?
There were rumors on here a couple weeks ago that Schumacher's group has been on thyroid medication and have also visited the same Houston doctor as some of the NOP athletes yet his group seems to get a free pass regarding doping allegations.

There is no rumor about WADA going after gray zone substance. You need to catch up on what has been going on related to Xenon gas and WADA's thinking about it.
Let me help you with a link. The first 30 or so Google hits are about Xenon and WADA.
https://www.google.com/search?q=wada+xenon+gas
I have read some of the xenon gas articles. I was not saying it is a rumor that WADA is looking into xenon gas. My point was that somewhere after post 200 the whole thrust of this thread changed from Centro failing a test to that he was being looked at for something in the gray zone. I know that some are now simply discussing xenon in general versus something applicable to Centro, but others now seem to have accepted as fact that Centro is being looked at for something in the gray zone, xenon etc., or some kind of biologic passport issue. That wasn't the original claim in this thread nor was it even mentioned for the first 10 pages of this thread. My discussion was not related to xenon but to point out that anything related specifically to Centro has been nothing but a morphing succession of unsubstantiated rumors.
if you don't want to hear other peoples opinion then don't go on a message board. There are other useful ways to get information you are interested in. And they are way more efficient then going to a public library in the eighties.

Harder they fall wrote:Not me. This thread has done nothing to alter my opinion. I thought that Alberto has all of his athletes flirting with legal/not legal. After this thread, I think the same thing. Nothing has changed.
Why do some people think it's important to make their voice heard, even when they have no real opinion to share? Do you think your own personal experience will be helpful for others to read? I've noticed the same thing on blogs, news articles, and YouTube comments. Now, I didn't grow up with the Internet, but it this practice does seem to have spiked in the current generation. It's as if they just feel entitled to have their thoughts read by others.
Yeah I agree with you, xenon gas doesn't pass my criteria. Also, I highly doubt most abusers of xenon gas feel comfortable talking about it in the open, because they know it is wrong.
It's pretty simple for Matt. Instead of tweeting a Lance like response. Just do a snapshot of your most recent tests. Or post them on your website after updating it with google adwords. You'll gain a few bucks from the traffic and maybe some believers.
Agreed. Tweet, Smeet. If you are serious about something you don't rely on a text message to clear your name. You man up and do it in person to show that you have nothing to hide. You certainly don't send a half ambiguous text message to an unknown audience and expect everyone to be happy. Furthermore, you deny, specifically. You don't dispel, vaguely. That's kids stuff.

Because they could outright squash the rumor-mongering perpetuated by this thread or they could acknowledge it has merit. To do neither lacks courage in my view.
I agree that the impact of altitude tents and xenon gas really probably aren't categorically different, and I am ok with the former after mulling it over for quite some time. The only potential difference, unless xenon gives a very short-lived and undetectable boost, is availability.
Ironically, in my mind, Wejo is the one, brilliantly in my opinion, who started the live high/train low concept by sleeping in his car at the base of Mt. Humphrey in Flagstaff and sometimes driving to Phoenix to get his interval training in. There is a small distinction to be made, but all of these methods are utilized to boost EPO, though a case can be made that tents/gas are artificial. But WADA was fine with the tent. Not everyone can just pick and move up to Flagstaff.
Just bumping the thread to see if the rumor substantiated here has any justification whatsoever?

Well, the news for you is you are wrong. A lot more of these gray zone reviews by WADA/USADA are coming your way.
No. Actually I do. There is nothing to see here. Nothing. Zip. Nada....(well, except for a bunch of folks getting their panties all up in knots and another bunch laughing their asses off at them).

The fact that you were able to find and bump this thread means that the site owners must think there is truth in this.
They delete other things that don't have substance.

How is the rumor substantiated when he just competed in a race?
See: Emily Litella.

As a general statement, for any athlete, whether accused or not: It could be years before you truly know if you are in the clear. L. Armstrong learned this the hard way.
