dont read to much or anything into the NJAC race, our league is not very good, most of the invite races we go to have more comp. It rained in some places in NJ saturday, but it was more windy than else around the state.

it was was raining VERY hard till about an hour before race time. The course was a mess.
just throwing this thought out there, but anyone else think that nyu's front men weren't trying to run with stevens? of course i wasn't at the race so i dont' know any specifics on this but their pack was tighter than it has been all year from 1 to 5 and their 4th man was right behind phillips, williams and abdallah who are leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of that team thus far this season and last year (at least williams for sure and we all know what abdallah is capable of)
I think that nyu has potential to put three in the top 7 at regionals, no easy task.
Top 10/12 at regionals:
deshane
stevens
abdallah
locket
guerero
williams
Mcgrath
Shamus
kopnicki
williamson
phillips
donahoe
That got rather hard after the first 4. Others to include are Lowe, TCNJ 3rd man, Greenlaw, Cloke and Gaudette. I'm basing alot of that on last year and who i think will peak best - strickly opinion

My prediction: Teams will run stronger at states this weekend than at regionals, and it will give teams like NYU and TCNJ the advantage...
why run states??? its like a pre-regional 1 week earlier and it doesn't mean a thing.
You left Ithaca out of your women's predictions.
While I agree that having states the weekend before regions isn't the best set-up, saying it doesn't mean a thing is ignorant. Aside from the SUNYAC, there really isn't a comprehensive D3 conference in New York State. The Empire 8 and Liberty League are jokes. Who would say no to another competitive meet with a team title at stake?
My proposal would be to run the NYSCTC meet on the traditional conference meet weekend in order to leave an open weekend between that meet and regions. However, teams like Rochester and the NYU women are also in the UAA, so that might lead to problems.
On the other hand, for four years I ran the NYSCTC meet, then regions, then nationals, and never felt burnt out. It was just the way things were, so I didn't think twice about it!
The Ithaca girls team is going to be second at states.
You also left the SLU men out of the top 5. On their home course I see them coming in 4th or 5th.
St. Lawrence always runs extremely well on their home course and they will be 4th at states. Brockport doesnt have the frontrunners necessary and Rochester certainly doesnt have the pack to be able to compete with SLU.
Why is everyone so down on this team? They are a GOOD team and if the region wasnt so strong, they would be in Regionals contention.
check this link out, so ridic...
"GOD HELP US ALL"!!!!!!
thats so old news, anyone who knows him knows he just likes to talk outlandish smack. though he did run 1426 in January coming off xc, now if he could only stay healthy maybe he would back some of that talk up? gotta beat the guys on his own team first.
What are your goals for this cross country season (individual and team)?
If I stay healthy I will win nationals. If my teammates stay healthy, we will win nationals. No doubt.
Thats a big goal seeing how hes been racing, and based off of what it looks like he got in this summer. He won't even be the top runner on his team in the region, let alone the top runner in the region.
by the way, old results...
the meet that nyu ran out in the midwest, Plattsburgh raced there once. Corey Davidson ran 24:08 on that course, and DeShane is way better.
Very fast course, or somewhat short.
the national meet run there in '99, in oshkosh, was on a shorter course. The course they use now is longer. The NCAA Committee came in the week of ncaa's and made them move some parts of the course because they didnt like the space between some tree's and bushes. '99 was between 100-120 yards short. Also it was cold and windy (25-35mph) in oshkosh this year, '99 had perfect weather for ncaa's, 48, overcast, no wind.
Deshane is the man, its his region to win or lose.
forget regionals, what kind of shot does DeShane have at winning nationals?
The same chance as Yout breaking his leg.
I was in the race in 2005 when Yout went from 2nd to 20's. So chances are good?
If Deshane's on he will win
Interesting interview, I'd like to see how DeShane would answer the same questions. As for Matt's chances at regionals: my questions were answered at his first race, and I have not been swayed since. Had anyone seen him race? He doesn't strain, never has mud on his front side, and looks completely comfortable. He probably finishes his races chilled from not working up enough body heat. Before SUNYACS, I would have said that Shamus was the #2 runner in the region. If he was sick for that race, than he indeed may be. Before the season, I would have put Hany at #3, but again, I am not so sure. I didn't put him at #2 last year, and I know he can and will race better than he has been. DeShane should be looking past regioanls this year, if he hasn't started already (which I doubt). I don't think he was very focused at Nationals last year, and I highly doubt that he hasn't learned from the past.
I would not be surpirsed to see Matt win nationals.
I'll post my regional predictions after this weekend's State meet.
matt is a track runner, has great PR's from 800 to 5k, and has become a real good XC guy, I think he was plenty focused last year at NCAA's, it was just not the type of course that a 1500 guy will always run well on. Rochester was flat as a pancake last year, and he was able to outkick abdallah. This years VOA Park in Ohio should suit matt much better. He will be right in it, at NCAA's anything can happen, so who knows.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
Does not wanting my kids to watch a bisexual threesome at the Olympics make me a bigot?
