I was happy for both. Great run for Shalane. There is no need to tarnish her run just because Rojo treats every NOP run as fixed or doped and Rojo never mentions that runners from other groups also used Dr Brown. Enjoy the races and ignore Rojo instant editorials! Life is too short.
My happiness for Rupp was more like "fuark yea, this guy is finally performing up to his (based on my perception) potential and delivering a kick ass race". I was excited and energized.
Shalane was a more emotional "Damn, it's cool to see someone who has always been very good but not best in the world good finally get a huge win on home soil".
There is no question I'm generally supportive of Rupp, and enjoy when he runs well, but I'm never going to have a visceral/emotional reaction to his running. It's more just being impressed by what he can do. Some of these older American runners like Meb's Boston win or now Shalane I'm less impressed by the running and more just enjoying seeming them get a victory they've spent a career toiling for.
