This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
That's only the chunk from the race entries that the charity pays which is less than 10% of what the fundraiser raises for the charity, so taking about 20 bucks per runner which is a very fair admin fee.
Just a moment ago you all were like, London Marathon doesn't take a cut off any donations. And now I've proven your all wrong and you are walking backwards. Since London Marathon does in fact take a cut off donations with it's partner, there is no reason why Goodge cannot also take a cut for the "admin fee" as you so dismiss the shenanigans of London Marathons grift.
Enthuse take 1.9% +20p,and 5% of gift aid, which is what the government pays.
Care to show how LME takes 6.9%?
1.9% + 20p almost certainly means they are using Stripe for credit card processing; Stripe takes 1.4% + 20p, and is the cheapest card processing service out there. So Enthuse actually gets 0.5%
Are you telling me that every runner who have done an event like this has had a live tracker on them for every step? And, if they didn't, it shouldn't be considered completed?
For records set before the technology existed, not much can be expected as far as them "proving it."
But as another poster notes, when one claims to be pursuing a record like this it is more incumbent on the athlete and crew to prove it than ever before. We have seen too many frauds to not consider that threads like this are going to exist, and questions are going to be asked. That's why I wrote the list I did in this thread (of what they very reasonably should be doing to prove it).
Can you imagine how much better off the team would be if they took reasonable actions to prove he's doing what they claim?
I understand that rationale of what you feel “should” have reasonably been done. But there is no rule book for this, that I’ve said multiple times. If you’re saying that people prior to the tech advancements are taken at their word, I guess the best thing WillG should do is turn off the HR and just post his distance. Then they only thing people could question is whether he is doing the miles. Those thinking he is “twinning it” are really absurd.
Sneakers is clearly a crew member, highly likely its Robbie Balenger.
I would bet on it. Rojo, can I get an IP check?
Good guess. Sneakers is obviously connected to Goodge in some way, but I think it’s more likely that Sneakers is Goodge’s significant other. The giveaway was on Page 30 of this thread, when Sneakers referred to Goodge as “extremely handsome.”

You haven't proved anything.
The company who processes the money takes a very small %(which you lied about)

Your accusations of me are as accurate as your accusations of Goodge

That must mean I’m correct about you! Thanks for confirming!

Before tech people relied on eyewitness accounts like this one from my journey in 2021( )
FWIW I had a Garmin watch and Garmin inreach on at all times, not for "documentation purposes" but because I wanted an account of the trip and I wanted to be able to be located in the event of any problems. I finished on July 12, 2021. Took me 112 days and 3032 miles. It took months to recover mentally and physically from the grind of being on US highways 10-12 hours a day.
Full disclosure : I don't personally know or "follow" any of the parties involved in the current run.

You sir are a badass and you have some amazing calves.

Kuddos to you! That is truly impressive!
I imagine that if a group came at you and claimed you didn’t what you knew you did, you would have been pretty angry they would question your integrity?
edit: I just read your article. What a wonderful mindset you had during your journey! I know that bridge you speak of crossing the Mississippi River. That is harrowing in a car...couldn’t imagine it on feet! Glad you still have them 😉

No - I would have enjoyed the company and welcomed them to join me. As I mentioned, I also had two data sources going at all times so I would have known they were incorrect and given them access to all the data they wanted (which I did for friends and family who were following along).
I suspect at any point in time there are 10-20 people attempting to cross the US on foot or bike. 90% of those are completely under the radar screen. Attempting it is more common than you'd think. Finishing it is rare.

That’s pretty cool to think about! I never would have thought that. Even if they don’t finish, wow the human body and mind are amazing!

This is a great book that was published a few years ago. Several of the contributors served as resources / mentors for my journey. If "transconin" interests you it is a good place to start.

Good job. You "proved" charities are corrupt. But, the London Marathon does put on a marathon each year and even if they are shady, which they are, they still put on a London Marathon each year. Has this clear fraud done the same?

There’s another guy running across the country right now- Timmy Zhou on Strava. Not here to take sides on the Goodge controversy, but I think if people want to support clearly legitimate efforts (clean heart rate data! and he runs with an inreach), we can divert some of this into positive energy for some awesome efforts happening right now
The latest from Will Cockrell's Jogle Facebook comments between him and a Goodge crew member. I told you it was Cockrell's dangerous driving that endangered the group in my now deleted comment.
James Tregaskis
Let this be my first and last public comment on this matter.
Will, we tolerated your presence whilst you were here with an open mind, when you publicly said you were finished investigating this case the previous day because of your ‘new development’ we knew you had found another way to drag Will’s and the rest of our names through the mud. Then after you’d said you would stop investigating, you continued to tailgate us for the rest of the following day, resulting in our frustration.
This frustration comes from the fact that we are 6 honest, integral, hard working people trying to do a good thing. And you came out, saw nothing to show for any cheating because there was nothing whilst you were here, nor since we set off in LA, and have still managed to spin something into a story, when you told me to my face you wouldn’t do exactly that.
I look forward to reading you’ve made up tomorrow, and I urge you to send a professional out to observe who won’t unethically interfere with the subject and see what happens to the data then.
If anyone wants to discuss this matter any further, I’ll be happy to speak to anyone with an open mind in my PM.
Regards, JT
Will Cockrell
James Tregaskis rubbish about tail-gating. All I'd do was bypass, usually to 3 miles up the road. Tailgate on those roads would be a bloodbath given the speed of the cars, and eye-wateringly dull for me.
But thx for being honourable and not denying the rock throwing.
