Classical Academy beat Rock Canyon by 25 points at Liberty Bell but lost to Rock Canyon by 13 points at Cheyenne Stampede. San Clemente beat Rock Canyon by 71 points at Woodbridge. Classical Academy at 21 is fair but San Clemente at 25th is too low. At-least 15th if not top 10 team.
not bad for milesplit much better than last rankings, few comments (take them with a grain of salt)
- coeur d'alene, jesuit or is fine where they are, despite no big races I think its about right
- jesuit la is top 10 but only with michael healthy, without him healthy it will very difficult to make nxn, farragut 20th until they put down better performance which I know they are capable of being top 10 on a good day.
-christian brothers and union catholic have yet to show their lineup so they are too high right now. but I think saving 10th spot for christian is fair considering their lineup based on track times is insane
-just like last year carmel is way too high again
-riverton shouldn't be on this list
-both ventura and austin should be top 10, san clemente around 15th
Farragut needs a 5th man
agreed and so do many of the teams that are ranked higher than the teams that have produced results
jane and elizabeth clearly deserve 1-2 here. I am glad saddie and hanne are 4-9, I was really rooting for them
You can't penalize Ellie Shea for not racing yet... until she loses, she's #1 in the country. Probably would have gone 15:10 at Woodbridge.
I think there are certainly circumstances where you can punish someone for not racing, but this wasn't it. The top two at woodbridge were upsets, and they beat quality people, but tbh the margin between Shea and Sadie or Bethany is alot over an xc 5k. I would take Allori (colorado) over Hendengren and Leachmen. I think the MS rankings got a little too high of the woodbridge fumes.

Allori is great in Colorado, not so great outside the State. I'd still have Shea, Hedengren, Leachman, Engelhardt.

To go off this, cba is still wildly deserving of a top 10 spot, even though they have not raced yet. Curious to see what they do at Bowdoin this weekend, but based off returning xc and track times from last year (returning SR of 178), hard to argue against them being a top 10 team. UC will rely largely on the health of wischusen.
Agree on Ventura and Austin V, but sometimes hard to find spots for all teams deserving
Like Woodbridge this past weekend, I think some big time meets (bob firman, roy griak, Bowdoin) this weekend will make more sense of the national landscape going forward...
Air academy girls are criminally underated by milesplit
False. Booby spends ample time featuring AA girls. More than anyone else.
The problem is that AA's team drops off at their #5, and Niwot has girls ten deep that are competitive. AA has results that look faster than Niwot, but that was at Liberty Bell and Niwot's were at St. Vrain. and the St Vrain course is quite a bit more challenging that the Liberty Bell (you know, the net downhill course that it is) one is.
Does Jesuit Portland belong on this list if the 3rd and 4th place teams from NXN 2022 are on here they were second.
just my opinion, I don't want to offend any teams, but yes I think the following teams have sort of proven they are very good (not necessary with speed ratings but with results and team times when compared to previous seasons etc)
- Herriman, American Fork, Southlake Carroll/Belen, Great Oak, CDA, Jesuit OR, Ventura, Austin, San Clemente. with Jesuit LA in the mix only if Michael is racing, idk if that team in Arkansas is legit but they have really good speed ratings.
There are still a lot of big races and many teams have not really shown us what they are capable of so this list is going to change a lot as more teams get added to it, and team that burn out/get injuries will be removed from it. For example, I am 95% sure CBA will be in this list once they run their first race.

also I should add I don't really have a good handle on teams that are not in the California, Northwest, Southwest, and South. So if anyone wants to chip in on other teams that has layed down some great performances in other regions please do

Southeast - we all know that Belen Jesuit Prep is really good. Calvert Hall College MD is solid too. Farragut will be able to qualify for NXN again if they can find a #5. McCallie TN has yet to open their season, but last year their varsity didn’t run their first race until the end of September
Heartland - at the Marshalltown Bobcat invitational on September 7, Cedar Falls went 179, 169, 168, 162, 159, 156, 153. Wayzata and Stevens Point are solid like last year, and both will be running at the Griak Invitational
Midwest - Downers Grove North is legit. Carmel will be very good too if everyone is healthy
Northeast - CBA, Union Catholic, and Westfield have yet to open their season. CBA and Westfield are running their first race at Bowdoin Classic
New York - this region isn’t very strong this year. I think any boys team can make it to NXN from this region. Saratoga Springs, Brooklyn Technical, St. Anthony’s, Ithaca, and Auburn are some of the teams that can compete for an NXN spot in NY so far. Fairport (ranked #1 in NY in some polls) haven’t run a real race yet.
As an Arkansas native these guys are legit for the state. Easily the best team to come through for some time and have plenty of depth as their jv is a top 5-10(depending on the day) team in the state. Joseph Bariola is their only competition and he is just an individual. I would wait for Chile Pepper to see if they truly are going to make waves. I believe they will but that might just be bias.

Factoring that in puts Niwot ahead on AA.
I mean in the national rankings, not Bobby's coverage. AA and Niwot faced a very good Mountain vista team on back to back weekends. My view is that AA's win over vista had much more breathing room, then they beat a high quality field at Woodbridge by 100 points.

She raced 3 times last XC season outside Colorado. She won wyoming, 2nd NXRSW, and 14th at NXN. I think she has a pretty good out of state from last year.
AA put all 5 ahead of MV's 1 at Liberty Bell. When Niwot raced MV at St. Vrain they only put 2 ahead of their #1. It was the same team for MV both times. Not sure where the smoke that Niwot is so much better than AA is coming from.
1 7 Herriman @ 42nd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic The boys of Herriman are undefeated through their fall run so far, and that includes some big wins. The first was a win on displacement over American Fork on Sept. 1, and the latest results came this weekend at the Woodbridge XC Classic, which included wins over ranked teams like Carroll, Great Oak and more. 2 1 American Fork @ Utah Pre-State Meet So far, so good for the Cavemen, who are off to a rolling start. The only set-back was a result to Herriman on Sept. 1 at the Timpanogos Invitational, but the AF boys still have the second-best speed rating average of 180. 3 1 Carroll High School @ Paschal Invitational MEET IS FULL NO OPENINGS Only three teams have a better speed rating average: Herriman, American Fork and Belen Jesuit. Carroll, however, are coming off a second-place finish at Woodbridge, which is a major result and netted a SR average of 178. 4 2 Belen Jesuit Preparatory School @ The Southern Showcase powered by Huntsville High The Wolverines are no joke. Right now, there are four unquestioned teams at the top of the national leaderboard, and this Florida team is one of them. With a 178.8 speed rating average from the Southern Showcase, the Miami squad has a lot to show for its early performances. 5 0 Coeur d'Alene High School @ Timberlake Farragut Invitational The Idaho program has racked up two wins over its early season and so far is keeping pace with early expectations. 6 2 Jesuit @ The Southern Showcase powered by Huntsville High While they got beat by Belen Jesuit at The Southern Showcase, it wasn't a bad performance by any means, and the Blue Jays are still in the hunt as one of the best teams in the nation. 7 10 Great Oak (SS) @ 42nd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic A third-place finish at Woodbridge will open some eyes; the Wolfpack are still very much an elite team. 8 2 Christian Brothers Academy @ Battle @ Ocean County Park No results yet for CBA. 9 4 Union Catholic Reg. HS @ Trials of Miles XC Opening Night presented by New Balance No results yet for CBA. 10 5 Carmel High School @ Flashrock Cross Country Invitational Two wins early on, including one at the Brown County Eagle Classic (over ranked Noblesville) give Carmel a bump to its early ranking. 11 9 Jesuit @ Ash Creek XC Festival Portland tore through Ash Creek and moved up the rankings. 12 5 Wayzata High School @ Blaine Invitational It's still very early; Wayzata remains undefeated. Roy Griak will present a big test this month. 13 10 Ventura (SS) @ 42nd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic The boys of Ventura were fourth at Woodbridge, which was a very good result for a team that's hoping to stick its nose -- and keep it -- into the national rankings. 14 5 Stevens Point @ Smiley Invitational It's been two wins early on for Stevens Point. 15 3 Farragut High School @ The Southern Showcase powered by Huntsville High The top Tennessee program finished third to Belen Jesuit (FL) and New Orleans Jesuit (LA) at the Southern Showcase. 16 3 Downers Grove (North) @ Larry Eddington XC Invitational Won the First to Finish meet over Plainfield. 17 15 Crater @ Rogue XC Invitational It wasn't the greatest result at Woodbridge; the boys of Crater struggled and finished ninth. We'll have to see how the team responds. 18 N/R Austin Vandegrift @ 42nd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic They didn't start on our rankings, but this Austin-based team is there after their 14:39 average and first-place finish in the rated race at Woodbridge. That would have netted them a fifth-place finish in the sweepstakes. 19 5 Bentonville High School @ Panther XC Classic The Arkansas program has begun the season with two wins at the Texas MileSplit Invitational and the Lucas Lovejoy XC Festival. 20 2 Riverton @ Border Wars This Utah program still finds itself firmly in the rankings. 21 N/R The Classical Academy @ Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational The top program in Colorado thus far. The small-school squad beat Thunder Ridge and Rock Canyon at Liberty Bell. 22 6 Zionsville Community High School @ Flashrock Cross Country Invitational The second-best Indiana program at this point in time. 23 N/R Calvert Hall College High School @ adidas XC Challenge The Maryland program is coming off a win at the adidas XC Challenge. 24 N/R Rock Bridge High School @ MSHSAA Roster Import (Internal Only) Wins at the Memphis Twilight and Olathe Twilight meet have factored this Missouri squad into the national rankings. 25 N/R San Clemente (SS) @ 42nd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic The squad was fifth at Woodbridge.

No Skyridge at all? That just puzzles me
Niwot boys should be somewhere on this list. I believe their result at St. Vrain puts them as the #1 team in Colorado. They easily beat Valor and Mountain Vista last weekend. They had 6 runners ahead of Valor's 2nd runner and 7 runners ahead of Mountain Vista's 2nd runner. Most of the teams at St. Vrain ran Liberty the weekend before against TCA, Rock Canyon and Thunder Ridge. Speed ratings don't seem to be completely accurate. If you compare times for both meets and look at the average difference in time for runners who ran at both meets, it would put Niwot ahead of TCA.
