Stumbled onto this live session of The Allman Brothers via the miracles of AutoPlay in YouTube. WOW!
I was unfamiliar with the very fluid licks of the back-up guitarist on stage. Of course Dicky Betts is the main attraction, but the other guy to Dickey's right (in the jacket) was amazing in his own right. I come to learn that it is Dan Toler, who was with them for a few years around early -80s.
Digging a little deeper, seems that he (Dan Toler) died of Lou Gehrig's Disease about 10 years ago.

Are you into the Stone Roses at all, Mr. Prattle? Read somewhere they were destined to he the reincarnation of the Allman bros...at least until "Second Coming" was finally released.

I listened to the Stone Roses a lot. Like a Waterfall may have been my fav. I would be a bit surprised to hear them compared to The Allman Brothers, think they sound more akin to The Beatles or one of the Brit bands during the psychedelic music phase of the late 60’s.

The Stone Roses debut album was a monster when I was in college, and I think it still hold up today. Here's my favorite track, which gets played everytime Man U takes the field:

Allegedly, their manager locked them in a room and said, "Don't come out, until you've wrote a song." Also, lead singer Ian Brown's kids apparently *hate* the song and cannot stand the fact that it gets played before football (uh, soccer matches). He's got the perfect retort: "That song paid for your seats!"
Looks like I screwed up the Norm MacDonald Lou Gehrig clip. For completions, or anyone who wants a laugh over a comedian who isn't with us anymore...here it is:
