The Haddonfield boys won its 245th straight dual meet on Tuesday to break the South Jersey record, and CBA extended its national record dual streak to 393.
Farragut #9 (equals their nxn place last year. They ran faster out showcase 2023 than 2022).
Jesuit La and Austin between them somewhere.
My person opinion of this is that the nxn teams this year are stronger than last year.
Belen is not American Fork / Herriman level
Belen at most is Southlake Carroll / Great Oak level
Belen at worst is Ventura / Austin / San Clemente level
American Fork return 5 guys that placed them 5th at NXN last year, they are not better than American Fork.
I would personally put them above Ventura and below Great Oak for now.
You may be right. But you cannot understate Belen’s team improvement from last year. They improved their team average by 32 seconds from Showcase 2022 to 2023. If you improve their 2022 NXN average by 32 seconds, they would have a 15:48 (16:20 —> 15:48). 15:48 is the exact same team average as American Fork at NXN 2022. Long season to go, but these kids deserve credit
So what is the general consensus of teams that ran at woodbridge yesterday/last year? Comparing 2022 course to 2023. 2023 course is .022 longer so 6 second slower in that aspect. But 2022 course is more smooth with less turns so 3-4 seconds faster? So 2023 woodbridge is 2-3 seconds slower than 2022 woodbridge?
what were conditions like at southern showcase this year?
69 °F Rain. Fog. 3 mph ↑ 96% Humidity
oh was it actually raining when they were racing? Was the course muddy or was it just a light drizzle? Also dry weather/courses with cold temperate are slightly faster than races with wet weather/drizzling
I think it’s safe to assume that the course is 6 seconds slower than last year (based on the distance being 3.022). Nobody knows if this 3 mile course is faster than last years 3 mile course we can only make guesses
It was pouring with an hour before the championship race. Rain let up about 20 minutes before the race, but the Blue race definitely made the Championship race a bit more muddy and technical than normal conditions for the course.

Ok if that's the case then Belen is probably very good and being overlooked on here.

generally I am pretty skeptical of comparing woodbridge speed ratings to speed ratings of other courses. but it looks like from the data points I am seeing speed ratings are on the low side for all the early big races. I would say take speed ratings +5 and that would be the equivalent of later season races
