I'm a Dem, but I have thought all along that if Biden really cared about the party or the country he would do the right thing and step aside. These elderly leaders trying to hang on to power when they have lost much of their mental capacity is disgusting. I'm talking about Biden, Trump, McConnell, Feinstein, Pelosi, etc. And I'm in my 70s.
But I've given up hope. Trump will win unless something happens to him, but hopefully in 4 years we can start over with new leadership and a clean slate.
Yes and no.
1) Biden lost the election last night. It's over.
2) It would great if Biden would step aside. Would have have been MUCH better if he had stepped aside before the primaries started.
3) But the thing that many people forget is that the image that you have for Biden (or Trump or McConnell or Feinstein . . . ) is not the image that they have of themselves. For some of them (and I think Biden is one) it is not a question of "trying to hang on to power". They truly believe that they are the right person for the job even when anyone on the outside can see that they should hang 'em up. In these cases, I don't think it is really disgusting. More like sad and pathetic.
Like taking the car keys from your grandpa.. at some point YOU have to be the one to keep him from hurting himself or others. This applies to Biden.

Hooma/Real Obvi/GEICO - after 5 years you finally had a decent post. No mention of "moron" or anything else like it. Congrats!
I cant remember any time in my life where within minutes after a political debate the conversation was not about the contest between the two candidates, but whether one of them should even be a candidate at all!
This is failure on a unprecedented level.
The only comparable contest I can think of was the Alabama v ND game (when they had catfished LB.) We were told it was going to be close, then by half everyone was wondering why ND was even there.

I'd be more inclined to call it "elderly narcissism." To go along with their lifelong narcissism and desire for power (very often over principle).
And, as you think that you know, I'm NOT one to paint all politicians with the exact same really, really bad brush. At the same time, I'm guessing that the AVERAGE politician's character/narcissism score ain't real great. In other words, am I inclined to feel sorry for a Feinstein or Biden? Absolutely not.
And moreover, if Trump becomes president and does half of what we fear he will, Biden could be in the running for the most destructively selfish public official in American history.
Don’t gloat too much Gary. The man looked great at the State of the Union and I remember you not acknowledging or barely acknowledging that. Then you went on and on about him being on drugs for the debate so you thought he was gonna show up peppy. I don’t think anyone predicted what we saw last night.
You're not suggesting that Trump and the Trumpers were LYING about Biden 100% FOR SURE being crammed full of drugs, are you?
They lied? They made sh** up ??
It's the tiniest, teensiest of consolations to Biden imploding last night: ONE MORE Trump/Trumper fabrication fully, completely exposed.
Sleepy Joe refused a drug test. Refusing a drug test means he's failed a drug test.
He was on drugs last night and it didn't help him. It's much easier for Sleepy Joe to read a teleprompter than it is for him to think on his feet- he can't do either anymore.

Raises an interesting psychological question: If we imagine, for the sake of argument, that they both have the exact same mental decline, could it be that repeating and/or making up new lies is simply a lot easier than trying to say defensible, reasonably honest/accurate things?
COULD BE !!
Poor Joe.
And Donald goes on, rewarded richly for pathological dishonesty and malignant narcissism.

This is why many of us were slow to jump on the Biden is too old train. It’s because Faux News and the right wing has been flooding the country with doctored fake videos and edited sound bites crafted to make Biden look bad. And it is always a good policy to assume Faux News is full of sh!t just like Trump is.
Sleepy Joe has been stumbling, fumbling & mumbling words for over three years. You just refused to believe what I have been saying about him. Our POTUS is senile AF and is completely incompetent to remain POTUS.
If it wasn't for last night's debate, you would still be saying that he's "on top of his game." C'mon man!

You are welcome to leave at any time. Just kidding - we love having you around. Especially Nonequals weekend - seems more relaxed than the original.

Gary, PLEASE, PLEASE don't get the completely mistaken impression that Biden's performance last night IN ANY WAY validates your monumental simplicity, immaturity, and dishonesty.

Sorry, it's never "relaxing" to think about what Trump could do in a second term. Nor think about why so many of my fellow citizens support him.
Learning what happened last night in the debate was one of, if not the, most "civically depressing" moments of my life.
That means we end up with the Laughing Hyena to finish out his term.
That would be awesome just to see racists like you exposed. Your head would explode daily.
I'm no Harris fan, but it would be beyond awesome to see her destroy Trump in a debate in a few months. And if she got the chance, I'm extremely confident that that's exactly what would happen.

Both were to vain to step aside, both could hurt their cause immensely due to their hubris.
There is a spectrum of lying... EVERYONE LIES. Many people try not to lie, others don't mind doing it often. The 2 candidates are on opposite ends of the spectrum and it's not even close. Trump lies are orders of magnitude more frequent and worse than Biden's. You cannot produce a single clip of trump in which he doesn't tell a lie. Therefore, to the extent you claim hypocrisy on agip's part, it's on the other end of the hypocrisy spectrum as that of trump humpers. It is a difference of galactic proportions.
You are in denial about Biden's lying. One example, Biden said every single military commander supported his decision to close the military airbase and evacuate out of the civilian airport. That was an outright lie...and 13 service members died. Another, Biden said he inherited 9% inflation when it was actually 1.4%. There are many others but, like agip, you won't want to hear them because they force you to face your own hypocrisy.
Right! And I didn't do that. Despicable is despicable. I'm not defending Trump in any way.
But you said in a previous post that "I'm an adult and I choose not to be lied to." Apparently you aren't as "adult" as you think and you're willing to excuse Biden's lying while claiming you choose not to be lied to. That's hypocrisy.
You literally said they were equally despicable.
Despicable is despicable. Maybe you see shades of despicable but I don't. But, go ahead, deflect so you don't have to face your hypocrisy.

Of course, when very old people do that, they only have a few years to suffer from the consequences. Most of the rest of us get to live with it for decades.
