HR: So let me get this straight. You got fired from a top executive job because you did a poor job. The company immediately hired a new top executive. You couldn't handle that. You were so angry, you refused to leave. You called all your friends to come and vandalize the workplace. When you did leave, on your way out of the office you took a lot of the company's confidential documents. And when you got caught, you refused to give many of them back. Now you're reapplying for the same job with the same company?
And nearly 50% of that company says, "Yes." And 30-40% of that company says, "YES !!"
a similar formulation, from david sedaris:
I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. "Can I interest you in the chicken?" she asks. "Or would you prefer the platter of shlt with bits of broken glass in it? To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.”
Amazing you care about this and cherry pick stats. the one that you overlook is that our prison systems have about 3,000,000 prisoners and 90% are Democrats, so there is that.
Even if what you said is true, which it is not.
The point is that 3,000,000 prisoners aren’t being chosen by a bunch of red cap cult members to be President of the country.
This is simple stuff a child can understand.
Red cap cult members......AND non-red cap non-cult members including Senators, Congressmen, Governors, very wealthy/successful people, your neighbors, your family, your co-workers, your pastor, your teachers, your trusted contractors..........
And nearly 50% of that company says, "Yes." And 30-40% of that company says, "YES !!"

In it's later days, I hear that that chicken walked rather hesitatingly. I'd go with the sh**.

“The FBI released the first-quarter US crime stats last week. Every single main crime category was down by double-digit percentages from the same period a year earlier. Even more amazing is followed the downward trend in crime shown in the same quarter in 2023 over 2022 with the exception of car theft. The Major Cities Chiefs Association’s latest report on violent crime in 58 large US cities and 10 counties showed a 7.7% overall decline in the first quarter of 2024, with homicide down 17.3%, rape 16.6%, robbery 3% and aggravated assault 8%. Trump constantly criticizes Joe Biden’s border policies and other actions by Democrats for increasing crime across America. He does it at every rally. His followers repeat it like dogma.
Very interesting fact is crimes went up under Trump and went down under Biden. Sounds like Trump is lying once again.”

Equal Time time: Flight attendant. "Her"? "She"? Clearly sexist. I'm offended. Let's see, what else do I think about the world? Oh, my heart bleeds perhaps a bit TOO much for the Gaza Strip and that fine Hamas organization running the show (but apparently responsible for little or none of it). Biden doesn't care enough. I'll show him, I'm staying home in November. And sure, Trump might be our next president as a result.

I wonder how he'd treat that flight attendant?
This just occurred to me: Average sane American journalist:
1) Trump and Trumpism lie like a rug.
2) Hey, let's state and implicitly trust Hamas casualty figures on a daily basis.
And yes, I know that a LOT of innocent Palestinians are being hurt and killed. But the constant and mostly unqualified quoting of Hamas figures is ridiculous.

Well done (and the previous post about leaving work too)!
A Houston man who was reported to the FBI after discussing his involvement in the U.S. Capitol insurrection on a dating app was sentenced to more than six years in prison this week for assaulting police officers with bear spray and a whip-like weapon.
Andrew Taake, 35, pleaded guilty last December to assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers using a dangerous weapon, a felony, according to federal court records. He was sentenced Wednesday to 74 months in prison followed by 36 months of supervised release, along with being ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution for his role in the deadly riot in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021.
If you changed the words "US Capital insurrection" to "BLM protest" and removed "in Washington, DC on Jan 6, 2021", right wing media would be screaming that this sentence was far too lenient and is proof of unfair bias for the left.

Similar actions from BLM protests typically got two years or less. The Times Square immigrants got 6-12 month sentences.

Similar to premeditated bear spraying and whipping police officers in an attempt to overthrow the US government?
Everything you associate with Jan 6, the left has been encouraging and perpetrating for years. I’ve got no problem with prosecuting these violent crimes against cops, but it needs similar treatment regardless of the political affiliation of the accused.

apples to oranges
no leader of the national Dem party is excusing violence against cops. You might find someone in the squad being ambivalent but they are back benchers with zero power.
whereas the very leader of the GOP, an ex-president, the Republican nominee for president, sent that violent mob to congress, calls J6ers in prison political prisoners and says he will pardon those in jail for what they did on Jan 6. The GOP now backs the J6ers.

The one’s paying for their bail, justifying looting and encouraging others to get confrontational aren’t excusing violence?
In late August of 2021, Minneapolis police responded to a shooting along I-94, where they found a BMW sedan that had crashed into a freeway median. Slumped behind the steering wheel was 38-year-old Luis Damian Martinez Ortiz,...
Rep. Maxine Waters on Saturday night called for protesters to "stay on the street" and "get more confrontational" if former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is acquitted in the killing of George Floyd.
