Belen Jesuit (FL) won the battle of the Jesuits scoring 73pts and planted their flag with 14:38, 14:52, 15:20, 15:23, and 15:44, showing some cracks their #3 did not race and appears to be injured. Mantecon, a Freshman, may have run a 9th grade all-time best of 14:52.59, supplanting Keegan Smith's 14:53.79 from 2021. Smith ran 14:49.41 today to place 6th and finish ahead of Mantcon's 7th place performance.
Based on this weekend’s results, even if Jesuit LA (and Vocke) are at full strength, it appears they aren’t a shoe-in to take second behind Carroll at NXR. Bentonville did outstanding at the Lovejoy meet. Austin Vandegrift will be another team to watch if they can close the 4-5 or maybe 3-5 gap. Huge shame they didn’t get in to the sweepstakes race at Woodbridge tonight. Watch out for Deer Creek too.
Skyridge will be at Bob Firman next week, so we should get a REALLY deep field with Herriman, Boise SR, Skyridge, Rocky Mountain, Seattle Prep, and a handful of other solid schools.
Based on Woodbridge, Crater is not a shoe-in to autoqualify for NXN.
Coeur D’Alene ID and Jesuit OR are capable of beating them.
they had an off day their top guy josiah tanked, I think they can come back from this, their team time is solid they will race better races in the future

Strong team, no doubt one of those teams that is most likely a true national contender, with an ability to score under 200 points at NXN. I converted their time to 3 mile times to see how they stack up against the teams at the woodbridge sweepstakes.
What do people think? I didn't include the minus 6 seconds on woodbridge times to get a 3 mile because I figure the competition made times faster than at southern showcase.
herriman here ran a perfect race at woodbridge, no need to go to bob firman, i think it would be best for them to rest up after a really hard effort like this
if you do a merge, Austin Vandergrift (in the sweepstakes race) would have beaten San Clemente and possible even Ventura. They might be a top 10 team in the country
oh smack your right they would of beaten San Clemente
14:08, 14:28, 14:51, 14:54, 14:55.
If both Vandegrift / San Clemente really are better than Belen, based on Southern Showcase, this puts Vandegrift ahead of South region foe Jesuit LA even if Vocke is at full strength

I don’t think you can compare times at Woodbridge (brand new course) to Southern Showcase. I think you had 3 NXN caliber teams at Showcase yesterday. To put it into context, last year at Showcase, Farragut placed 2nd and averaged 15:41. They went on to finish 9th at NXN. Belen finished 3rd, averaging 15:44 and finished 14th at NXN. Jesuit LA won showcase with a 15:23 average. They didn’t do NXR/NXN (and ran poorly at RXC), but they did bean Hinsdale and Plainfield South at NIKE XC Town. Those teams went on to finish 8th and 13th at NXN, respectively. Yesterday, Belen averaged 15:12 with a legit low stick (ran faster than Patrick Koon did at showcase 2022). They are a legitimate podium contender at NXN.
So based on last year, Belen is looking like a podium team, Jesuit La and Farragut could be top 10-15, and Vandergrift could well be a top 5 team with their run at Woodbridge. Combined with Southlake, that’s good firepower in the South and Southeast. Worth noting Belen has to race state and NXR on consecutive days. I hope the selection committee takes that into account should they run poorly, which would be very understandable.
I think Belen is better than both Vandegrift / San Clemente. They are on the same grounds as Ventura, they just need to race a true championship race with lots of competition, that will lower their times
all out performances by Tayson Echohawk for each race says yes you can compare them. This guy was known for being super consistent in Utah, and always seem to put up a solid time at championship races. The only thing you can't compare is that southern showcase may not have that same energy in the air and competitive atmosphere.

14:24 Huntsville Park
13:49 Woodbridge
He ran those times in different cross country seasons and the Woodbridge course he ran is different than the one that was run yesterday. The Runninglane course is the same and teams that averaged 15:40s or better at southern showcase last season faired well at NXN, so Belen’s 15:12 bodes well. And Vandergrift’s performance against the top teams at Woodbridge also bode well
