I thought Trump was supposed to give us infinity percent growth?????
Not only growth that he said would be 4% and even higher, but we'd have a wall, and not only a wall, but one Mexico would pay for, Hillary would be behind bars, Obamacare would be repealed and replaced. Those are the three main things he ran on in 2016. These aren't some small promises he made that an opponent would just bring up to have something to bring up, these were his MAIN points! Whipped his supporters up into a frenzy over those things:
"Lock her up!"
"And who's going to pay for that wall?" "MEXICO!!!" "You better believe it."
"Repealing and replacing Obamacare will be so easy. So easy."
He also said he would wipe out the national debt in 8 years. That was lunacy, and of course he hasn't even knocked it down but increased it.
So, he was interesting as a candidate in 2016. He had the outsider vibe so many were attracted to. He was a "successful" businessman.
BUT, we have learned more about him since then.
1) His three main promises mentioned above have NOT come true. He even had the House and Senate the first 2 years and couldn't do any of it.
2) We found out that NO, he wasn't going to be able to get rid of the national debt in 8 years.
3) We found out that NO, he wasn't this great businessman most of the world thought he was.
4) We have seen his attacks on our democracy with repeated attacks on our press, our judges, and anyone with any power to question him.
5) He has said outrageously racist things, taking him from "yeah, he's probably racist" to "yep...he's a full-on racist."
6) He cozies up to dictators...MURDEROUS dictators. Ridiculous. He has given Kim Jong Un legitimacy by meeting with him despite no concessions by Kim Jong Un and no movement toward anything positive for the US and our allies.
7) He has lied at an outrageous unfathomable rate.
8) He has proven NOT to be a fiscal conservative...really the ONLY thing that is admirable about traditional conservative (stated) values. I say "stated" because Republicans don't really walk the walk on that and more than Democrats have.
9) He has proven he is NOT a Christian. Has said he never has to ask for forgiveness, is Mr. Two Corinthians. Now, I couldn't care less if he is a Christian or not, but many Christians do care, and he is clearly NOT one. You can't just say you are and be one.
So, since Trump hasn't even come CLOSE to accomplishing his three main goals, why in the world would anyone who voted for him STILL support him today?
There are only two reasons:
1) JUST stupid. Why would you support someone who doesn't accomplish the things he said he would do that got you to vote for him in the first place?
2) Racist. Trump is a racist. He repeats racist tropes. He is lauded by racists. Now, ALL racists are stupid, but some of those who support Trump do so because of the racism, not necessarily the stupidity.
There are no other possibilities.
