Got to hand it to Lyles. When you bring main character energy, you better make sure that you're the main character when the dust settles. If he ever gets that start right, he could be down in the 9.6s
rewatching so much respect for the race he ran. he never gave up even when behind.
it's easy to say he always does that he trusts his speed
but to believe in himself and his speed at the ultimate moment is next level
NBC showed the speeds attained. Lyles has the highest top end speed. He also reached it later in the race than others. He reached his at 55-60Mwhile everyone else had reached theirs at 45M-50M.
He is the absolute worst. Awful NBC coverage of Track and Field so far. You have to do the World feed on Peacock, but it does make you miss out on Ato.
Agreed. He just is given a list of superstars and just screams their names. He doesn't understand the sport at all, which even for a play-by-play commentator should be a requirement.

This is the mental aspect of racing that Richardson does not have. She should go train with Lyles as her coach is not dealing with that aspect of performance well.
The world feed on Peacock so much better. None of those inane Lewis Johnson interviews. Hutchins a bit dramatic but knows the sport. Anderson loves track. Carrie Tollison is ok. A couple of ten second commercials. They do a great job on they the field events

You’re right, no question. I have been impressed though, by Darrell Hill’s commentary on field events. Never heard of him before, had to look him up, but I like what he has to say.

I’ve watched it all on peacock. Haven’t hear Hutchins. Anderson and walker
she's acting like a child constantly. Besides how high she's jumping, everything she does around her jumps is so over the top, performative, and frankly immature.
Have you seen the US male sprinter that paints his nails, brings children's trading cards to the start line, sticks his face in every camera he sees, and yells and screams like a child having a tantrum?
I'm very biased, but I don't understand why everyone is so happy with Hockers race. Yes, it is easy to see that this could be the final and that it was his bronze, but at the same time - wasn't he badly boxed in with two runners side by side in front of him, and one runner to his side? I am thinking that Nuguse, with the tactic he showed here can be an important factor if Jakob gets the race he wants.

No, but I’m Australian and Olyslagers really is embarrassing and immature. Love the fact she got silver, but cringed every time she went for her run up. Really inappropriate behavior for a grown woman.

for this heat, considering who the pair in front was that was probably ok to get him in top 6. But I agree a bad spot to be in if he wanted to try to get around them. He is in that spot more often than not and seems to have space open but maybe one time that will not happen?

Thought Hocker looked great - very comfortable at that pace. Indicates that he can maybe kick off something a bit faster. His kick may not be as dented as a fast pace as originally thought. He’s definitely reached a new level. The race will be excellent.

Think I'll run under 3:30 for a lark (and a medal)
Yeah, and ever personal record ever set had never been run, thrown, or jumped by that person before.
Or to be more obvious, Roger Bannister had never run under 4:00...until he did. John Walker had never run under 3:50...until he did. The Cubs hadn't won a World Series since 1908, over 100 years...and then they did win in 2016. And so on...
There are so many stupid people in this world who have an Internet connection and access to a keyboard. May want to edit that needs a new keyboard. Oh yeah, it wouldn't make a difference.

NBC 100m coverage sucked. They never did show the entire results. They left us wondering about Kerley's bronze for like 10 minutes. Thank GOD for Letsrun.com.
Hopefully they take a hard look at how they so thoroughly messed up the call on one of the most dramatic 100m races ever.

NBC’s T&F specific feed (peacock?) was brilliant
That’s just the World feed they are copying from the Olympic Broadcasting Corporation. It’s amazing what happens when you simply have competent play-by-play guys.

He’s running to qualify right? If the finals goes as fast as we think it could, there won’t be boxes.
