The NYC prosecution is really about Trump’s MO —lying. He’s a matryoshka doll of mendacity. He lies, lies some more, then lies about the lies he’s told. To be sure, all his criminal cases involve lies—about the 2020 election, about the military secrets he stole. “But the alleged lies in People v. Trump strike at the core of his moral putrescence—and Trump knows it.”
The prosecution's star witnesses are a convicted liar and a wh*re who's changed her story 10 times and made a million dollars off of lying about Trump.
The common thread here is actually that the left lies constantly and will do absolutely anything to hold on to power.
I love it when the only argument 'conservatives' have left is that Trump hires criminals and low lifes and also sleeps with them while his wife is at home with their newborn son.
It's actually funny.

The complete and utter lack of self awareness the cult has is embarrassing.

Thats the first time I believe anyone has heard that argument, better get back on your medicine

it's more a stipulation of the facts than an argument, you're right.
It's easy to understand why people vote for him. They talk about why they want to vote for him incessantly. All you have to do is listen.
People are fed up with the system. They hate politicians. They hate the government. Trump has the aesthetic quality of a populist disruptor. He's gonna drain the swamp. He's gonna implement policies that help real working Americans. He cares about us.
It doesn't matter if he actually cares or actually help the real working American. All that matters is that people believe that. He'll cut them a check for $800 and they can go to sleep happy at night knowing a real patriot is in charge. They love to hate liberals more than they enjoy literally anything else in their life and it makes them feel a little less weak and small, which they are. We all are.
So I think it's easy to see why people absolutely adore Trump and buy into the cult. I think it becomes Trump Derangement Syndrome when you start letting it affect you personally. It's not helpful to you to be angry at things outside of your control. The best thing you can do is focus on making yourself and the people around you happier. At the end of the day, we are incredibly privileged to be Americans. We don't really have to deal with the consequences of any of this stuff. I would understand being more upset if you were say, transgender, but it's a little silly if you're a well off white dude getting all worked up over it in my opinion.
democracies die, hunter, and patriots get really sad when it happens. and then everyone suffers.
that's what America is deciding. If it should work its way out of its democratic experiment and surrender it to authoritarians and a classic corrupt strongman.
You can say 'if you have money you'll be ok' but that's only a 'probably.' Countries go to heck after putting people like trump in charge. Could happen here. He's said he'll terminate the constitution and make the DOJ a tool of retribution. He says he'll dissolve or weaken NATO. Seems like a thing citizens of a republic should worry about.
Pot calling the kettle black. Biden’s done more to suppress free speech, weaponized the DOJ, and attempt to go beyond his presidential powers than Trump.

I think we have enough checks and balances in place to prevent the worst of the worst from happening. I don't think your life or mine will materially change in any way. Trump won't win over Americans by upending their lives. It's always a delicate balance and he's already pretty unpopular. I think you're doomsdaying a little too much.
The popularity of Trump and Trump himself do not make me angry. It's makes me a little sad, but not angry. I'm disappointed in the system that lead to all of it, but I do not have what it takes to make any type of difference, and the people who have what it takes would rather take $400k a year from Microsoft or Sullivan and Cromwell or Bain Capital and buy a nice flat in the Bay Area and drink Matcha Lattes and walk their designer $15k dogs.
I'm kind of holding out hope that Trump just won't win or the deep state will rig it or something.

You're just desperate for Biden to raise your taxes? Do you have relatives in Hamas?
What issue is it that you think Biden will do a better job on?

Thanks for that mostly sensible post. However, the bolded text is terribly "off" IMHO.
There is a very simple reason why it is off. That is because many people (possibly incuding Nnonequals and agip) actually care about something other than themselves. Perhaps everyone matters - not just oneself and the people immediately around oneself.

They care so much for other people they advocate for policies that hurt more people than they help...

In a normal world, these words by Trump would shock the country and they would demand accountability.
Today, this is way down to about number 54 on the list of corrupt, self dealing mob boss stuff Trump was engaged in.
After FBI’s Cohen raid, Trump called Cohen and said:” Don’t worry, I’m President of the United States. There’s nothing here. Everything’s going to be okay. Stay tough. You’re going to be okay.”

I'd rather not elect trump to find out J6 was a practice run for a more successful attack later. I think the GOP has spent the last 8 years eliminating the sort of institutionalists that kept Trump in line. Institutionalists don't really exist anymore in the GOP and the Trumpists have figured out they need to put yes men into power to get their way.
We saw after J6 the GOP go from 'never want to see trump in DC again' to 'J6ers were tourists and are now hostages and we must re-elect Trump.'
that's how fast things go badly.
Point is, the Republican Party has spent 8 years eliminating the very checks and balances you are depending on. Trump in the WH and Rs running the senate and/or the House is a recipe for upheaval.

"there's nothing here" means he didn't realize Cohen was committing multiple crimes without telling him...

Trumps top cabinet officials who are Republicans and have spent their entire professional lives assessing National security say Trump is entirely unfit to be in office and a threat to our nation.
It is wise to take their word over catturdforM@ga2024 on social media.

That sounds like you think "it can't happen here." But it can.
And most assuredly, Trump and his followers intend for it to. Even on this thread, there are those who say it out loud - "Maybe a bit of authoritarianism is what we need in this country."

Well it’s obviously not an argument I’ve ever used, nor anyone else. we don’t care about Trump or have the emotional connection you do, we just want to end the killing and your guy doesn’t do that, and our guy does. Wait till the illegals you guys are waving in start their slaughter, cause that’s on its way too. and the only thing you can do to stop it is to vote for Trump. will be a test of everyone’s character in Nov.

The imbecile says without a hint of self awareness as his party uses the legal system to try to prevent the voters from choosing their own candidate.
