Busy work week. Not good for the running. Off Mon-Wed. Finally snuck in 35' yesterday. Hoping for better today.

It ain't over till it's over. My father PRed his marathon at 65 in NYC 3:27 ovecoming several wrong-itudes of his past. Biomechanical and otherwise. As for me, overtraining resulted in chondramalacia when I was 19. Nipped me in the bud you might say... But it ain't over till it's over.
Weather permitting, do some barefoot walking on soft surfaces. There is this poster i like to read here, jaguar1, who has had some great results. Search her up and read. If you are commonsensically gradual about it might fix things up.
Looks like another wonderful day of bicycle commuting.
Thank you very much. Glad you like what I post. (for an FYI-- I just qualified for the Women's Olympic Marathon Trials.... seems like going back to the basics worked quite well.:D)
Congrats to you, jaguar1, on your qualifier! That's great news. And a big thank you to the rest of you -- especially our new posters -- for sharing your positive running experiences with us all.
Let's see, where did I leave off....
Wednesday: 20' w/u, 8 x ~300m hill, 15' c/d; stretching and a massage (nice!)
Thursday: 55' tempo; lifting; stretch
Friday: 75' easy; striders; stretch
Saturday: TBA (I'm on my own today)
Keep up the good work, all!
30:00 on the recumbent bike, then 15:00 running with the HRM. It was tough keeping it at Maffetone level (125BPM) I kept automatically going up to my AT level (140-ishBPM).
Too many years of ingrained "no pain no gain"?
This HRM/Maffetone stuff is challenging in a different way. The foot felt OK today. I ran sockless in some month-old Brooks Radius 7's. We'll see how it feels tomorrow.
Congrats to jaguar1.
Fri., yesterday, no run.
Today, for total of 46:47, solid running for 43 min., jog warm down, 3 3/4 min. For the main run, AHR 142 MHR 158.
Today's run was horrible. Coming off a SF and have been doing a few miles here and there, but last night at a party I drank alittle too much and spent the first two hours of this morning with my face in the toliet. Went out to do a horrible 2 miles with my SF being slightly aggravated and the spent the next hour and a half in the pool.
Worst. Decision. Ever.
Round of applause for your Dad. Tell him "Bravo!"
3:27 after age 65? He's approaching Whitlock territory.
Twenty miles, right around seven per mile. Just relaxing and winding down from a long week. Cool, sunny, and great air!
easy 75 min on treadmill....mind numbing.
20 miles @ 7-pace? I'm envious.
Today I was recovering from a savage migraine I got yesterday evening.
I walked the dog a mile this AM then walked another 30 minutes myself, it seemed to help.
I hate when these hit me...no rhyme no reason to them. Anyone who gets migraines knows what I'm talking about.
I ended up taking yesterday off after a guest arrived and stayed awhile. Today, got up late (see first sentence) and snuck in 40' before a late brunch. I'm guessing Coach will have me back on the track tomorrow. The party's over!
Today's run; for 22:14 (shorty one, things to do).
AHR 137 MHR 156.
I do tell him. Dad is quite an inspiration, disciplined and methodical but with an open mind. So he appreciates my barefoot experiments... he is on his way to 86 and has slowed down considerably...Sunday: after fully loaded 30 mins bike, salmon-ed a 10K (started very last) with a buddy for an academic progression; averaged 4mins/km but still started out too fast and was tired at the end. Biked home 40 mins.Saturday: bike commuteFriday: bike and track field instructor session: hammer and discus throws. Interesting warmup exercises.
