Mason with a 1-8 sweep on JV. If that 17:01 lak east guy ran varsity which he should have (he actually would have scored for them), mason would have had a 1-10 sweep
I forgot to mention that Neuburger did not run either.
Yeah he did. Took 15th and ran a 16:56.
lots of JV guys ran faster than him. Do you guys think he will be in a good enough shape to make the top 7 at the end of the season?
varsity scored 18, and JV scored 15.
When I looked at the results before I posted Mason was listed with 15. I saw that Middletown had Fowler take 3rd and Mason still had 15 points I figured that Middletown did not have a team of 7. That has happened with Middletown, Hamilton, and Princeton in the past.
It is sometimes hard to believe that back in the days of Jeff See that Middletown was the state champion. When See was a sophomore Middletown was 7th, his junior year they were 2nd, champions in his senior year, and 3rd the year after See graduated. They quite a strong four year run. It's amazing how far athletics in Middletown have fallen. Basketball, Football, and the track and field teams were routinely some of the strongest in Ohio. Now they're at the bottom of their own conference.
Lakota West was absolutely insane in 2020. 2 years later, they lose to another Lakota team
It wasn't that long ago that Lakota East boys had some pretty strong teams. They were top 5 not that long ago. The Lakota East girls were 2nd the year that Beavercreek won when Taylor Ewert was a senior. They have had some strong teams also. It seems like Mason is the only team that is consistently strong in the GMC. As big as those schools are, I don't get it. There have been some strong individuals outside of Mason but no team consistency.

I agree. The GMC is pathetic now outside of Mason. That is the biggest conference by average enrollment in the state of Ohio. I don’t understand how Mason is the only team consistently making it to just the Regional meet even.
My observations is that Mason has a coaching staff that seems to develop the younger runners which is why you see them do so well in the JV races but most of the other schools it's just one coach who tries to coach the entire program or just the top runners and there is no development of the younger athletes. X has something similar to Mason as well and thus they are good every year. I'm not a historian like many of you but I know that East had Horter but I don't remember them having a good boys team at the State level, West had the Championship team but I don't remember them going to State in the previous 10-15 year and don't know much about Oak Hills. Everyone talks about Mason being good because they are the biggest school in the state but these other big schools rarely make it to State as a team.
Lancaster scored a very impressive 15 points in their conference race.
Hil. Davidson beat Dub. Coffman 39-46, Olen. Orange was 3rd with 49.
Today, both Hil. Davidson and Dub. Coffman had Lancaster beat at #1 and #3. But Lancaster’s #4 and #5 are significantly better. I think they very well might be the #2 team in Ohio.
Unfortunately I wasn’t there to watch todays races at Newark, but that sounds rough. Hopefully it was just out of exhaustion and not an injury or similar.
Everyone’s saying that Conner Ackley is going to win state but personally I think he’s overrated. He was being a baby at the tf state meet by dropping out of the 2 mile.
I live about 10 minutes away from TSF high school. As a former XC runner I like to watch the team run everyday. There resting their varsity guys. Actually Ethan Cope is their #8 runner. Their top 7 is all under 15:15. They’re just resting until states. Mason has nothing on them. TSF 2022 state champs 🥳

Haha. If they were the size of Mason then maybe they could afford to.
does make me wonder. out of the the top 20 schools, how would those schools rank in enrollment?
mason obviously #1 in poll and #1 in enrollment but I think Columbus de sales is smallest since they just moved up ?
