Tonka will have a tough decision for state: race the older Fries who seems to be working his way back from something or go with one of the sub-17 guys from lefty wright.

Minnetonka only has 2 alternates. Laninga and Schneider. Laninga could be a good replacement for Barry. He ran a 16:45 at Dundee.
Edina boys team had 3 sophomores qualify as individuals. They also had a freshman run as #2 as Alexandria. Could the future of this team be any brighter?

That's a really hard situation for the coach to be in, I really doubt he would remove R.Fries from state roster. Anyone know of a situation where a lefty wright racer ran at state? Lefty wright is a faster course than Gale Woods. Times overall weren't incredibly impressive, compared to last years sections and Gale Woods, and Lake conference earlier this year. I'll do some analysis and post tomorrow

I remember in 2019 there was a lefty wrighter at EP who ran at the NXR championship but not state. In 2015 everyone who wasn’t in the top 6 for Hopkins ran at lefty wright. Best one made the top 7 for the rest of the season.

Why would they replace #6 with #8? The two alternates had all season to prove they were in the top 7, there's a reason they were alternates today. Only reason they run state is if 6 or 7 are sick or a current on going sickness is obvious, mono comes to mind..
As far as Jefferson, worth pointing out a) the 18:18 freshman has a PR of 17:29 (as an 8th grader too), and b) Adam Lueth’s brother is in 9th grade and on the team as well (not turning in great times but with 3 more years to improve who knows)
He runs 20 minute 5k’s right now.
Andrew Vos was #2 for Tonka last year and graduated. He has a younger brother who was running 22 minute 5k’s 2 year ago which is much much slower than what the younger Lueth is running. Today he ran a 16:38 at sections and scored.
If the younger Lueth makes a similar jump to the younger Vos he could challenge for the #1 spot at Jefferson in 2 years

I think it’s ok if they just keep the top 7 the way they are.

Barry beat Laninga by 16 seconds at Lake Conference, no way they swap.
I think they should run Laninga for many reasons. One of them being Laninga is younger and is the future of the team, also the likely hood that Fries turns his season around in the matter of a week in a half is low, and Laninga is a more reliable runner that is sure to do well. That being said, if the Tonka boys want any shot at winning or contending to podium at state or NXR, they need Ryan Fries to be back fully healthy, which I think is unlikely.

Dundee is a short course, more towards 3 miles than 3.1. I would not count it as a real race. While Lefty Wright was 30 seconds long or so. Tough that the JV boys haven’t had a legit 5K in a while.
Gale Woods Times - yesterday's times compared to (personal best) on course
-Originally, I was trying to prove to myself that yesterday's times weren't as fast as I thought they would be, as I was gearing up see Wednesday's runner's break 15 on the boys side and for Abby to lower her own course record. While watching races yesterday it appeared as though runners were really fighting the wind out on the loops, so I wanted to compare their PB/SB on the course compared to their time yesterday. Pretty much all the boys 2AA ran their best time, same with girls 2AA except the two below. Later in the day the wind picked up for 2AAA.
Isabelle Schmitz Hutchinson 18:19 (18:14) 2AA
Macy Hanson Fairmont 19:30 (18:43) 2AA
Hootie Hage Prior Lake 15:53 (15:41, 15:46) 2AAA

Jace Haerter Edina 16:00 (15:51) 2AAA

James Thomas and Tyler Voss both ran 1 and 3 seconds faster than @ Lake Conference, Parker Barry 3 second PB on course as well

Mary Velner Edina 19:42 (19:11) 2AAA
Sara Gastony Prior Lake 20:20 (19:45) 2AAA
I'm sure I'm missing some "course bests" for some of these runners as there are quite a few meets at Gale Woods. Most of the top runners in 2AAA did not meet their "course bests" except the ones in bold.
