And did you catch the potential age cheat comments about Gebresellasie?

Right down to ten at sub 2.21. Will we have a Frankfurt or a Valencia?
I miss Geb's commentary at this race. He commentated for at least one year.

Oh, that explains the constant watch checking.
He’s not planning to finish I don’t think.
Pete Julian announced yesterday , that Osako will only run 20 - 25 km as a tune up for Tokyo Marathon.
24 in the lead pack, my pick at 18: rest up, there is work to be done.

Shiferaw getting dropped
24 guys hit halfway in 62:43-62:46. All those Americans in Houston would be stopping now.
19 of the 24 were Ethiopian. Incredible.
How many Americans have ever gone out in a marathon in sub-63?

This race is less exciting without a huge pack going 2:03 pace
At least we might see a clownworld time on the women's side

Paula Radcliffe just said on the broadcast that Worknesh Degefa is planning on going out in 68:30 for the first half. She's already clear of the women's field.
Worknesh Degefa hit halfway in 68:39. A pack of 5 hit it in 70:05. Buze Diriba was 7th in 70:52.
Dera Dida losing touch with 2-5 at 25k
Well Degefa is toast
Anyone know if there is a big course record obnus? WHy would you go out super fast unless there was one or unless there was a big shoe company bonus?
It's interesting to see the men going 'tactical' in Dubai. Maybe the quality of the starters isn't as good as it was a years ago. Remember, last year they dropped the prize money from $200k for 1st to $100k.
Men's lead pack now on 2:06 pace through 30k. They just ran 15:22 from 25-30k, the slowest split of the race by far.
Surely it will pick up at some point, but the winning time isn't going to be particularly impressive. Last time the winner failed to break 2:06 in Dubai was 2011.
Not sure I've seen this many men still together this late in a marathon.

Boston 2019
So is every guy in the lead pack at 30k is wearing the Vapoflys or is of them in another shoe?

Vaporfly talk has officially begun on the broadcast

Sam Parsons says those are Li-Ning shoes. They're not Vaporflys.
https://twitter.com/par_sam_sons/status/1220550383820361729Runner in question is Limenih Getachew Yizengaw, FYI.
Tura stringing the 16 of them out now with a pick up in pace.
Degefa's last K was 10 seconds faster than the men's 2nd to last K!
