I don't think that's really Nicole DeBoom. And those tkirts are hot.

I have one of the Triks skirts and I love it. Very comfortable, and it is nice to have something other than standard-issue running shorts to wear once in a while. They are kind of pricey, but so far mine seems to be made really well and I imagine it will get plenty of wear.
I'll say. $60 for $10 worth of material most likely sewn by a Korean woman who makes $6 a day.
Oh, but you love it.

Sure is nice to have a message board as Runnersworld where you do not have to deal with the preverts and creeps. Hopefully there are us ladies that want to discuss the topic. What do you all recommend for runnin gals?
On what planet does a healthy adult male appreciating a healthy adult female's sexy form "perversion"??? Obviously have some serious sexual repression issues. Perhaps you were molested as a child, and that is why you are unable to develop into healthy sexual adulthood and appriciate the sexuality of the opposite sex. I pity you. You are probably one of those women who never has had an orgasm, and never will, and will die a lonely, bitter spinster. This is coming from a woman.

I just bought this tkirt :o) for my girlfriend. She ran in it yesterday & loved it. I give all these little tkirt numbers a thumbs up! The view from behind is great.

Sorry, but I think they look awful. That's cool if people were comfortable in them, but I wouldn't wear them. Shorts are comfortable. Surely those things fly up when you're running anyway? On second thoughts, they actually look quite tight so I'm not sure if you could fully extend your stride, may be wrong though. I just do not think I could run in those! Anyway, not an option for me cos of a lot of the stretches I do and starts.
Let's call in gender equity....They finally managed to make womens' running "fashion" as ugly as the mens'.
Next step--YOU (women) will have to run cross country races in below-the-knee basketball "shorts".
They're "Triks" ("skirt" backwards) you bimbo jogger!
Women like to be wear things that make them look sexy, get stares from people and then be offended that they are getting stared it. Women are crazy and women know it. Guys especially know this.

I would rather sprint in basketball shorts than in a skirt! What's coming next - stiletto spikes?
First of all, I'm a guy. I work in a specialty running store and when I first saw that the skirts (including Triks) were coming in, I thought "you have got to be kidding me!" My thoughts changed when we started getting calls for them in March. In April when we first got them in, half of them were already on hold for people and the other half sold within days. The overwhelming number of ladies that purchased them enjoyed them, many never want to go back to shorts, even though the cost of skirts are still very high.
I think runners on LetsRun forget that the shoe and apparel manufacturers are focusing on the big picture, not just opinions of the few, proud elite. And many women runners do have issues of chafing between the thighs and a.) don't want to have the outer material of the short between that usually is only solvved by going the shortest inseam or b.) wearing compression style shorts that is not always as flattering. The skirts allow them to wear not so tight-tights and have the coverage minus the material between the thighs. I really makes sense.
There still are many who refuse to wear the skirt, but to anwer the question of the original poster, there is a functional purpose. And despite what most runners here feel, the majority of women do care about their appearance when they go out for a run. If that is what it takes to get more people out the door to enjoy running so be it.
Lastly, I could care less what I'm wearing when I'm running, but I know good business is beyond me and other "elite-type runners". I give Nicole DeBoom credit for trying something different and innovative. People rarely come in to buy them because this fast tri girl wears them, it makes sense to many and they are starting to see others looking out running in them and looking good in the process.
My email is linked if you want more info, I can even get some of the women from our store to give you more info.
I have two of them. I love them. And, if you are fast, you can wear them in a race and the men in your wake will have been beaten "by a skirt!"
Seriously...they aren't for every occasion, but for casual runs when you are doing errands afterwards, they look a nicer than running shorts...kind of like a little tennis skirt. Mine are from Nicole's collection, and both are very comfortable, low-rise, and wicking. Fun to wear.
What ever happened to shorts, huh? When did those become uncomfortable or unacceptable?
i don't like them.
