I've actually got Gault's back here. I can say for one that I am deeply intrigued by this rivalry, and want to genuinely know why Coleman dislikes Lyles so much.

did he get the info, and did you know there's no law requiring you to keep info in the first place? You can set your site up to be amnesic about ip addresses and so forth.
And what information did Nike ask for, exactly?

It's a tradeoff. If Rojo wants to post controversial opinions to drive traffic to the board, he has to accept that this may not endear his site to athletes. While I enjoy visiting the message board here, I really can't blame any athlete for not respecting LR as journalists.
And I don't think an athlete needs to have been personally bashed by LR to feel this way. They just have to have some knowledge of the rhetoric of people who run the site. Sort of like how a person might not want to give Fox News an interview.
I'm a sub elite athlete(low 75 minute half mary a few months ago) and I get bullied a lot here. I still come here though. I would be honored if Gault or the brojo's ever happen to show up after a race I'm in and interview me.
I like letsrun but I can’t figure out why any elite athlete or Coach would talk with them. This site is successful because it’s a cesspool.
Own it and move on.
Jon Gault will NEVER be a respected journalist and it’s because of his affiliation with LRC

Yep, in the vein of Gault trolling, no one has mentioned his Hanna Green interview where he tried to turn the post-race interview into a discussion about DSD policy because Green trains with Niyonsaba. Great professional question was "What do you think about Semenya, Niyonsaba and the other?"
Jon Gault is turning more and more into Rojo everyday: conducts terrible interviews and then comes on here to defend himself, “My goodness, all I did was ask a question!!!”

If you are constantly having to defend yourself. You are probably doing something wrong.

My Goodness!
I've stated this before and I will state it again. Maybe it's not so much about what Mr. Gault says but how he says it? I love the letsrun interviews but can't help but sense some awkwardness with what I assume to be an iphone held inches away from the athletes face while Jon struggles to recall all of the questions he wants to ask. Obviously the other journalists lob a bunch of softball questions to the athletes and it's an easy albeit 'mailed in' strategy for both parties involved.
As a professional journalist, I've had plenty of criticisms of LRC's journalism over the years, but now I think they're doing a great job. They ask tough questions fairly and hold powerful people to account. They understand what's interesting and newsworthy. I'm not sure where some of these criticisms are coming from. Media literacy in this country is pretty poor, and this board is no exception.

Christian Coleman is a powerful person?
Lananna, Diack, Coe, etc are "powerful people" that should expect tough questions.
The athletes in this sport should be able to expect that if they ask off-the-record not to be asked about their relationship with another person, that the "journalist" would respect that. If Coleman had just failed a drug test and he asked Gault not to ask about that, I think that's fair game to report it. But to ask for no questions about Lyles? He should respect that.
To be clear, Christian's request was not off the record and he never asked for it to be off the record. Just because I hadn't started recording him didn't mean we were off the record.

Why is Jon Gault coming on here to defend himself? What does he have to hide?

As another professional journalist, I couldn’t disagree more. You must be new to the field. Gault and LR are terrible journalists. They watch meets on tv and write them up as if they were there (and fail to disclose it) they have agendas driven stories. They steal material and claim as their own. They have little to no fact checking.
Gault especially cant write very well and meanders with no clear direction in longer pieces. He also pushes conspiracy theories for click bait.

If he wins in Doha it's because he has to out lean people running him down right to the line.
Man that is some serious backpedaling in such a brief post. "Even if he wins the World Championship this year I'll still say he sucks".
Hahahaha.
'His sprint form is TRASH. At BEST he will PR and BARELY win the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.'
Poster "amateurhour" must be the dumbest thing on this board.
Friedman's father-in-law's company owned 194 malls prior to the real estate crash. They filed for chapter 11 during the crash. That reduced his net worth radically. The Bucksbaum family trusts fell 99% from $3.6 billion to under $25 million with the crash in 2008. He must have recovered a fair amount by 2011 when he was worth $1.2 billion. He died in 2013 and his daughter was one of two children, so it is not clear that she is necessarily a billionaire.
But Friedman himself made even back then $50k per speaking engagement and has made millions from best sellers, so he has money that he generated. No wonder, given his family background and his wife's wealth, that he always sides with the wealthy as he globe-trots, hob-nobbing with Saudi princes and corporate tycoons and touts their virtues in the paper. Just look at today's column.

You actually don't know who you are trying to talk 'ish about. That's how dumb YOU are. Amateur hour isn't the one who said that. I was. And I didn't say exactly that, either.
Lemme spell this out for you; Coleman won't PR at the world champs. I would expect him to PR maybe at the US Champs (weather permitting), and then maybe again POST World (if he still runs), but if he wants to actually win the world title, it would be in his best interest to likely NOT PR at Worlds. He's gotta be smart with the rounds. If he PRs at Worlds, I would bet it would be in the semis, and then he'd blow up in the final ala Powell. And, really, he doesn't have a history of that; he knows the concepts of round running. So, he'll conserve through the rounds (smartly) and then when he maxes out in the final he'll inevitably still be too roasted to touch PR territory. And frankly, that subject will be moot to him; if things go right for him, his best case World final scenario is him just being able to hang at the line for the win. PR hopes at Worlds are crazy talk when you're just scrapping the bottom of the barrel to get the win (perfect wind/conditions perhaps not withstanding).
And that's my point; he'll be scrapping the bottom of the barrel to win. The retort is "a win is a win", and that's true. World title, World Champ, kudos. But, two things; it's a bad LOOK, though, when he's stumbling over himself in the last 10 to hold off Gatlin, Oduduru, and maybe even someone else (depending on DeGrasse's continued progression, Simbine maybe, etc.). But, yes, you're right, something like a 9.84 World Final win is a WIN, even when winning by .002 or something when you WERE winning by .102 at 58 meters. Except (but number two), it's all done without LYLES in the race.
At US Champs, he can maybe let it ride a little bit more, especially with Baker MIA and Lyles skipping it. So he might have (again, depending on conditions) a mid 9.7 available to him (in semi or final) at the US Champs. So there's your fancy PR. But, again, no Lyles...
Look, without Lyles, him winning the title is basically him holding off a bunch of upstarts (Oduduru) and has beens (Gatlin, Blake), and the little-bit-of-boths (DeGrasse). Without the Lyles issue, there isn't much of a critique in that; you beat those of which your era provides. But, with Lyles? I mean, one could troll Lyles for not embracing the burden and going all in for the 100m this year, but regardless of ones view on that and with what Lyles has done over 100 just in dabbling in it, viewing a World 100m dash title for Coleman this year without Lyles's presence in the race AUTOMATICALLY begs the question "yeah, but what about Lyles?" To which, I direct you to his TRASH speed maintenance form, and his best case scenario of out-leaning a 37 year old for the world title.
Backpedaling my ass. If Lyles goes all in for 2020 and someone teaches him a MODICUM of acceleration/start philosophy, then Coleman's 2019 world title and 100m Dash PR will go the way of Tyson Gay's 2007 World double. Did you know that Tyson Gay was the World 100/200 champ? No? Yeah, because of BOLT 2008.
And with all this in mind, it might be interesting to note that Coleman requested not to be asked about Lyles. Now that request has more meaning than simple trolling or bad journalism. Coleman knows what's up, but he doesn't want to talk about it. If he was a cool dude, he'd try to take this season graciously and thankfully, but noooooo, he thinks he is the second coming, hence the angst of the Lyles subject. 2020 is gonna HURT for him...

Hahahahahahahaha riiiiiiiiight. Nobody PRs at championships. Not Bailey, not Johnson, not Bolt, not Van Niekerk ... NOBODY.
Lolololololol.
You are dummmmb.
Gault defends himself,
While at the same time moderating,
And posting under different names.
That’s just what LRC does.
They’ll delete your thread,
And steal your idea and tag line.
Wejo has done it to me 10+ times.
So sad.
