Star of that race was Ben Kendall of UD Mercy. I'm assuming he and his coach knew running "easy" with the pack wouldn't work out too well as he'd be running with a group of 14:00 and under 5k runners/sub 4 milers, leads whole thing and only finishes 2nd by 1 second. Has to be Mercy's highest ind. finish in the race ever, at the very least in the last 10 years!
Ben Kendell has run 14:07. Obviously not Morgan McDonald, but respectable enough he probably could have gone out slower with the pack.
