FYI, Ralph Doubell never broke 1:46 outside of Mexico City. Doubell flourished at altitude - broke indoor 1,000 yard record in Albuquerque.
Does Peter Snell still hold NZ 1,000 meter record?

Today the UK had three guys go 1:44 in a single race.
I can tell everyone right now that running is NOT popular in the UK. It's not because young kids are scared of Kenyans doping like Coevett suggests, it's because of football and school.
In a country where running is popular at least with a portion of the population who live and outdoors lifestyle, it is not that much of a leap to think that maybe they might be able to find a few more guys running 1:44 and faster.
Korir lives and trains in America. You can watch his training on flotrack on YouTube. He's as dirty as Jake Wightman. Still ran 1:42.0.

John Walker still holds the kiwi national record at 1000m. Peter Snell still holds the kiwi national record at 800m. Pretty incredible how long these records have held.

I posted an article here recently which had the coach explaining how he found them. He saw both running in a local track meet and claims he immediately saw the potential of 'the next Rudishas'. It's not the fault of these boys, but it is a shame that the best coach in Oceania isn't looking for the next Peter Snell, who would be running 1:41 or probably better on a Monaco track in 2018, rather than the 'next Rudisha'.
He could be looking for both. But as per usual, you make things up and claim he is not.
Knowing JR (coach) , Joey and Pete personally, as well as the other guys in Rinaldis squad here in Melbourne, I can tell you you are full of Sh!t.

Perhaps he can't quite remember seeing Peter Snell run in 1964. We aren't all pensioners like Coevett.
Does Coevett also not think that boys have choice in Australia?
Australian boys don't like running. It's quite a crap sport. Aussie rules, rugby or cricket are far more popular. Coevett just has this weird fetish over athletics being the most important thing which all the boys want to do but don't because of africans or something. In reality, running is often the sport which the less coordinated kids take up because they can't throw.

How does Templeton come in? Hasn’t he been looking after Deng since he was a young athlete? Surely that’s the connection to Rudisha
Coming in to this late (flying back from Monaco to Australia)
Let's just make it clear that both Joe and Peter are Sudanese (Joe was born in Kenya after his mother fled Sudan). Both of them have grown up in Australia since they were 6 years old and are very much Australian.
JT did spot Joe a number of years ago and have been instrumental in getting him to where he is today, Joe move from Brisbane to Melbourne 18 months ago to train with my group after he finished high school ( a similar move to what Peter did at the start of 2016 when he moved from Perth). Both athletes moved to further their running careers and train along side then equal Australian record holder Alex Rowe (who I was coaching since he was 15 years old).
Alex ran 1:44.40 in 2014 and then started med school in 2015 and hasn't yet been able to manage the workload of both his studies and his running to maintain is 1:44 - not everyone believes that running two laps of the track is the be all and end all in life. Could Alex have run 1:43 if he choose just to focus on his running....100% yes.
I also coach a New Zealander by the name of Brad Mathas who was 6th in the Comm Games this year (1:46.07). I'm sure if he runs under 1`:44.3 we'll have a bunch of people going on about Snell's run on the grass. My PR was 1:47.60 and I ran 1:48.03 on a grass track, so I don't buy this 'it's worth 3 sec' rubbish.
Me - I've never hand picked any athlete and I coach these guys for free on the side of working full time. I don't care what the colour of their skin or what country they are from. If they want my help and I feel like they'd respond well with my program and willing to put in the work, then I'll help them.
In terms of the record - it's a great step forwards for a 20 year old, but you need to be running 1:41/42 to be the best in the world, so we've still got a lot of hard work ahead of us to close that gap.
Thank you, sir, for the first-hand reply that puts to rest some of the bull that has been tossed around this thread.
Forgot to say wish the best for you and your runners.
Sorry, Mathas was 5th at Comm Games (6th fastest NZ all time)
JR
Good stuff! Well done and well said.
Cheers
Thank you JR for your contributions to Aussie athletics and the magnificent 800m event!

Just curious, have you ever conversed with Ralph Doubell?
Not yet.....I've only met his statue ?
A 50 year old breaking a record?? Everybody over 30 should be gassed or killed, like in Logan's Run. Worthless burden on society. And racist too, every one of em.

Never seen Logan's run of course, bit before my time
Nice to see you hiding when JR put your nonsense to bed Coevett

night night Coevett :)
Disclaimer: there's no threat whatsoever in this post.
Another thread ruined by this vermin coevett, Race is all he thinks about. Even in his very old age, he hasn't grown wiser. Being vermin is all he does. Maybe his hate for Kenya, is because his british colonialist dad was forced to flee for dear life or was killed during kenya's fight for independence lol.
