- He may be the 1st 44 second quarter miler with 2 x 33:00 10K XC races under his belt.
- Amazing .... if only Jeremy Warner would have appreciated developing such a range.

- Good Read
- Barely hear him in the video interview
- A lot of wind .... it's going to get interesting at sea level
He ran a great 400m, and he has a coach with experience and a similar career trajectory. I think Ereng will help Korir reach his potential in the 800m.
- We'll see ....
- If I'm Coach Ereng & hosting Conference USA's then it's "Game On" w/someone like Korir. I just reviewed the schedule & right now I'm running him in the following:
* 400
* 400IH
* 800
* 4 x 400
- I know what everyone's thinking about the 400 IH ... listen, if Rift Valley guys can figure out the steeple then they can do the same with the IH. Think John Akii-Bua ... Uganda, close enough.
- I'm looking for points BABY! & given that UTEP's hosting then this is more important than NCAAs
- C'mon Coach Ereng ... you've got a FREAK that can do 400-400IH-800 ... last time we've seen this was with Edwin Moses who unfortunately didn't get after the 800m which he would have been an animal .... props to Brandon Johnson & David Patrick as well. BE BOLD NOW!
He's better off in the steeple than in the 400 hurdles. What are you smoking man?
- Typical Rift Valley stereotyping
- Research Billy Mullins (USC) whose stadium record he broke & Bert Cameron (UTEP-Jamaica) whose school record he almost tapped.
Sub100!
I was there. Considering the wind factor, pretty sure he can go .5s faster right now in ideal weather conditions.

UTEP's looking at a VERY low 4x400 meter relay ... sub 3:05/

Is the UTEP 1994 3:02 4x400 School Record "at risk" with 2 x 800m runners? Loving it!
Mind boggling! I've never seen such raw speed on an 800 guy. Brazier has the power, Murphy has a mix of turnover and speed, but this was unprecedented. Korir's turnover looked insane in this video, I scarcely doubt he couldn't break 21 if he wanted to. He honestly may have a shot at giving Kerley a run for his money. Wow!!

- At the risk of coming across as a quibler ... Manny probably LOST time coming out of the blocks as well as in the last 40 where the rigor mortis created an inefficient head bob. Even w/the latter ... his turnover was johnny-on-the-spot.
- It's unlikely Brazier will race Manny this year ... based on his work ethic, I can't see Donny B making it through the heats with enough juice for anything special in the US National Finals that has front-runners galore (Berian, Jock, etc). Actually, Donny B's got a better chance in the 1500 since American's historically screw around-grab ass-look at each other & wait until the last 300 to make bold moves.

Your trolling is terrible
- Watch Manny's video (FACT)
- Watch the past few USA Men's National Championship 800 races ... be ready to PR after Prelims & Semi's to make the team. (FACT)
- Watch the past decade of USA Men's National Championship Races 1500 ... 1st class spina bifida (FACT).
This is the sort of 400 speed that the first guy to break 100 seconds for 800 will need. could this man be the one? Has he got enough aerobic endurance - what's his 1500 time? If not him -who? When?
- Manny put together 2 x 33+ 10K efforts during XC in the fall
- Donny B played video games & waxed his truck, just saying
that 44.67 was an incredible run given conditions, etc
it was a 44.97 using JRM's calculator but that takes no consideration of effect of hypoxia on metabolism, so likely guestimate of
~ 44.75 - 44.80
at sea-level
however, it had wrecking wind :
http://www.elpasotimes.com/story/spo...400/100796422/
that kinda wind wrecks a 400 by upto 1/2s, so more like 0 wind
~ 44.25 - 44.30
we even have vid !!!
go in a coupla minutes :
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sH2k94JNq3Q
he ambles the 1st 150 - 200, well behind field & blasted the last 1/2
this is probably due to inexperience as 1st open 400 in 1st world
as wade has shown, you have to blast it from gun for best clocking, as nearly breaking 300wr en-route showed
Korir probably threw away few tenths from slow start
it was a fast time off basically just last 200 !!!
the kid is likely in his perfect 0 wind at sea-level right now in april
~ 44-flat !!!
i think Ereng shoud tell kid to screw the 800, even if kid goes 1'42+ anytime soon
if you are in 44-flat shape in april off 800 training & spent all last fall running X-country, you shoud be looking at
~ 43-mid
this year if he switched full-time to 400 training

thank you
his sea-level basic wouda been 44.7+
44.2+ for wind
44-flat
if he'd run hard outta the blocks not ambled to 200
Indoor? wrote:It's amazing how short sighted most people are on this board. Kid shows crazy speed for 400 while his primary event is 800. Everyone thinks he should switch to make the World Champs this year. I bet the plan might be to actually develop and become a dominant 800 runner which the 400 speed will undoubtedly help.
i think the Kid "robbed" Ereng
Ereng went to deepest darkest africa looking for 800 talent, as that is his interest, albeit he was a jacked-up 400 guy, albeit looked in 1'41-high shape in '88 in a 1-off, & this Kid when he saw moneybags Ereng looking for middle distance runners likely piped-up :
"i a 800 guy, i a 1500 guy !"
"i run fast
give me paid scholarship for 3y to US University & i 800 !!!"
the guy is a 400 guy, albeit he has some quick likely 800 off 600i WR & some impressive recent 800s
it's simply question of US being willing to pay to develop best athletes in the world
from sport point of view i am happy, but economic point of view it doesn't look good, but luckily for rest of world, the $ is the universal currency & US will always be land of milk'n'honey
to the rest of the world, US is simply best thing that has happened to the World in last 200y
Korir may end up being one of the greatest runners in history & it's 100++% because of US
