You've never seen Alberto Salazar's writing have you? A college education is highly over-rated.
Apparently, second grade grammar and verbal are highly overrated.
why do you have to rip on cormier for deciding to go to a college which will make him competitive at the ncaa level? you people are too negative and it gets old. how many footlocker champs post on here? think most of you are just a bunch of jealous, wannabes. if i ever get as good as cormier in hs im going to be sure to come on here and gloat to you losers.
Sounds to me like someone couldn't run well enough to be recruited by the Hogs or the like and got his widdle feelings hurt.
WAH!!!

Why would he go to michigan? He's not fast enough to be a miler and they don't have any good 10k guys.
NAU would have made sense a few years ago, but I think they are on the way down. Still, why would anyone want to go to college in Arkansas?
Actually what you wrote would be a good reason for a 10k'er to go to Michigan - they don't have any right now.
The school and the coach that produced Billy Donakowski (Penn Relays winner 28:26), Gerry Donakowski, John Scherer, Chris Brewster (also won Penn Relays), Mike McGuire, and others.
I believe John Mortimer was a 28:45 runner at Michigan and probably the best 10k runner they have had in recent years.
so where's Bumbi headed? If you add HIM to the Ark class that would be insane... but with all those stars is there any $$$ left for him
Michigan would be a great place to go to if you're a 10k'er? I guess you haven't checked out how Ark did at Stanford in a race that was only used for qualifiers...

One more thing, I do not care how talented Cormier is or how fast he is. Cormier looks STUPID in those glasses. It really matters very little what I think but I thought I would put in my opinion anyway.
I think the exact same thing every time I see him, including indoor meets!
Perhaps they are glued to his face.
It makes me wonder if he has problems with his eyes.
If not, he soon will.
Scott Fry had a similar look in hs.
Really?
I never noticed. I thought he looked like Woody Allen.
Seriously how can you not pull for this Cormier kid?
The longshot that busted his ass and got the job done.
Give him some support. We need heroes!
If you can't beat Cormier (or couldn't beat him when you were his age) then you have no room to talk about how he races, or what he wears when he races. Who cares what "he looks like" when he's racing? If that's how he feels comfortable racing, who cares? I think Arkansas will be a great fit for him, and as a fellow Arizona resident, I'll be watching for great things from him in the future!
Why would ANYONE want to spend their college years in ARK? Regardless of the t&f program, college is about more than t&f. 15 yrs after school even the best have to get a real job, why not go to georgetown or stanford if your top notch and getting a full ride?

i know for a fact that two of the top runners in the country sent in their transcripts to stanford and gerard didnt want to play ball...at least one of those will be a hog
just bc you are a sub 4:10 guy doesnt mean you can get into stanford

I assume you were replying to me and not qwerty?
How does Arkansas' performance at Stanford affect how good a choice Michigan would be? For anyone, in any event?
I didn't say that Arkansas is a poor choice, I didn't even comment on that. Arkansas is obviously a GREAT choice for any track athlete from 100m to 10k, also great for the steeple and field-eventers.
But did I say Michigan was a better choice? No. I said they were a good choice.
How are any of us going to choose a school for someone else? Did you guys call Ken Cormier when you were applying to colleges? No, you made your own decision.
Tell me something that would make me believe Michigan is a poor choice for a 10k runner, or keep quiet.
Every 4:10 guy doesn't WANT to go to Stanford. The Stanford grads can't even get into there own state med schools. They are all out east! It doesn't matter where you do your undergrad.
MCATs,GREs and LSATs are the deciding factor. Going to AK, running great, and getting a 4.0 will mean more in the long run than going to Stanford getting a 3.0 and sitting on the bench with injury 2 of the 4 yrs.
Regardless, maybe the guy wants to major in something that AK is great in and so it's a perfect fit for him. The training is similar and he should do well.
AK is the abbreviation for Alaska.
Oops sorry, thank goodness for the correction. It is not my part of the world but to show my respect ARKANSAS.
I meant Ark. And in case you missed the point of the post (a bunch of amateurs)the guy made the choice based on what he thought was best for him and there is nothing wrong with Arkansas academics.
didn't miss the point there, smart guy. it does bug the shit out of me when people are arguing (pro or con) about academics, and they don't even know the proper abbreviation of the state of arkansas. now take a deep breath, turn the lights off, and go back to reading films.
They are off and I've been on all wkend but I will make sure to go home and practice my states :)
