We need more Maggie Vessey.
Strange what happened with Maggie. It may have been that time of the month or she wasn't feeling well.
She can still contribute to the championships. See

They could easily rerun the event. Nearly a week left in the trials schedule, plenty of time to rerun.
There is no reason to rerun the event, and if there was, the only ones involved would be Martinez and Williams for the 3rd position.
I agree that the first contact was incidental contact, no infraction, but the second and continuous contact certainly impeded BMart and likely others.
The contact by Montano was not incidental at all, as that and her subsequent actions took away Martinez's chance of going to Rio in that event.
Montano was obviously fried, and would have finished last, however the race had been run.

Didn't realize the rules state a rerun is possible. I assume it's VERY rare. Any precedents/examples? I'd assume it's reserved for acts of God, disruptions to the race, or massive pile ups/falls. Examples: crazy fan runs on to track after one lap and blocks three runners, 6 of 8 fall at 200m mark, implement lands in front of the runners... Crazy stuff like this
Let's not give any future ideas to Montano.

It's just too bad Martinez ran like a trampling maniac into Wilson's back. Good that she tripped herself stepping on Wilson. Too bad she took out other runners with her.

This snapshot clearly shows that Martinez did NOT trip, was clipped from behind by Montano, and that Wilson and Rodgers were not a part of the initial foul by Montano.

You're disgusting for wrongly putting the blame on Montano. B-Mart definitely runs up on Wilson and clips her. B-Mart was in perfect position to go around wilson but was out of control and runs into her.
Then B-Mart slows suddenly and flails all over the place. 100% her fault
Kate Grace represents all that is right with our sport, not Brenda. Kate Grace never even placed top 3 before at NCAA's or any national level meet. Ivy League grad could have gotten any job she wanted out of school but keeps training hard, most likely on a tiny contract with Oiselle. Then comes out of nowhere and wins the Olympic Trials and earns a spot to Rio.
There's been a lot of Montano hate on the boards, but really the women's 800 final was full of athletes who are great representations of what makes US track great.
Montano is a gritty racer who never lost her drive after getting beaten by dopers all through her prime.
Ajee is a consummate professional who puts her head down and gets the job done with no drama.
Phoebe Wright isn't afraid to speak honestly about controversial issues and actually has a personality, unlike the rest of the Nike drones.
Ludlow is the poster child for just barely missing teams but like Montano she keeps grinding.
Rogers and Williams are the bright future of the event and arguably have more pure talent than any of the vets.
And perhaps best of all, the 7 professional women represented 6 different brands- 7, if you count Phoebe as a Brooks runner. If only every event had the same equity.
The women's 800 represents all that is right with our sport.[/quote]
Let me also point out to all the racists and immigrant haters that
Kate Grace's family (mom Kathy Smith, fitness icon who I was very aware of as a teenager) is probably English in origin
Phoebe Wright--family likely Irish or Scots Irish in origin
Wilson, Williams, Rogers and Montano--African American, Montano married to a Hispanic-American.
Molly Beckwith-Ludlow I'd guess has some German/Scandinavian background and
Brenda Martinez is obviously Mexican-American.
Plus, they are all beautiful women. As I say to my wife as I'm noting their looks, great bodies, and wonderful personalities, etc.
"Don't mind me--I'm a proud American celebrating the diversity of the USA!"

Martinez was kicking, right? Seems to me like she was ahead of Montano, yet somehow Montano gains ground, catches up, and clips her? Martinez was all over the place and messed everyone else up.

Please stop lying. You can see clearly from the photo that Montano clipped Martinez from behind.
Wilson and Rodgers were not affected at that time, but then Montano also clipped Rodgers, kept pushing Martinez, and then caused herself to fall ~ poetic justice, but she would have finished last anyway.

Isn't it weird that she is in a training camp full of women with exactly this same story? Guess Wartenburg has figured out something the other coaches haven't. Substantial improvement from all of his runners after 8 to 10 years of continuous high level training.

Sorry, but Martinez definitely tripped/clipped Wilson, flailed and slowed, right into Montano's path.
Do the Martinez fanboys even realize they are contradicting themselves? On one hand, they are saying that Montano was done, fried, over, kaput while Martinez powered away ... yet somehow they are also saying that Montano "ran into Brenda from behind"? Huh???
Gee, how could this happen without Martinez SUDDENLY SLOWING DOWN?
Think a bit, kids. The exercise will do you wonders.

Correct. In the video, Martinez is flailing for several frames before Montano contacts her (when veering/decelerating Martinez careens in front of Montano).
No DQ. Montano was impeded. If this was a semi, Montano would be put in the final (like Engels).
Looks like the "Drugs don't work" troll(s) has gotten bored with that and is now creating a "Brenda tripped herself" fabrication (out of thin air) to while away the time.

WHAT??
Do you even know who the runners ARE in this photo?
This clearly shows Martinez flailing (because she tripped), well ahead of Montano! This crazy dance led to her slowing and veering into Montano's path.

EXACTLY.
If Martinez was supposedly powering ahead and Montano was supposedly toast, how the heck is Montano going to suddenly gain on Martinez? Here's how: MARTINEZ TRIPPED.
Anyone who races the 800/1500 knows what getting clipped from behind looks and feels like. Trolls to the contrary notwithstanding, Alysia ran up on BMart and sent her down, capping an incompetent, strange performance that even the announcers had noted along the way.
4/7 angles show Martinez' left leg swing outwards as it comes forward and hit Rogers' planted right calf. Martinez stumbles in front of an accelerating Montaño causing her to fall. The initial contact was incidental, all runners kept to their line. It was just the backside mechanics of Martinez' left leg that caused the chain of events https://twitter.com/mountainpsg/status/750863552534110212
