Just asserting his dominance.

14:55? After going out in 4:31.8? Can we stop talking about GOAT already? Thanks.
With that said- Props to Hunter for taking it out, instead of jogging most of the race like last year.
Calm down, he had no competition and still ran 14:55. Track will tell what his legacy is. 14:55 alone on the footlocker course is insane.
Worst coverage I've ever seen. Actually embarrassing. Even shite tier d3 meets have cameras that don't cut out. Pretty sure we only saw about 2 minutes of the actual race. Hire a better company you cheap basterds.
Hunter after the race.
"Yeah absolutely. I wanted to take the race out hard and make it a tough race for everyone including myself."
America finally has a MAN that isn't afraid to push it.
Runner-up Rocha after the race, "I definitely went into the race with the most focus I've ever had for any race in my career."
"But when it came to the race I knew Drew was going to make a move," said Rocha who basically sounded like he didn't want to try to cover it too much. He didn't quite admit it but those boys were running for 2nd today.

PS.
Hunter referred to his coach talking about having a "quiet confidence". Isn't his coach his dad/mom? Why would he refer to them as coach and not dad or mom?
Coached by Tinman.
Pretty sure Tinman took over his coaching this year
Wow. Barely faster than 2014. And that was with Fisher jogging until 800m to go last year.Ritz is the one guy that would have mounted a serious threat to the record back in 2000. Solinsky went 14:41 in 2001 (now THAT was a performance), and he was 12(?) seconds slower than Ritz at FLMW Kenosha. Such a shame they moved the race to Orlando for those 4-5 years. Stupid.

Hirsch in 9th. Amazing...He looks about 12 or 13.
Just goes to show that as good as Hunter is, he's got a lot of ground to make up on the legends. Despite going out in 4:31 he barely cracked 15 by 5 seconds. Still well behind the likes of Chris Solinsky, Marc Davis, Cheserek and even Mike Fout. Basically tied Withrow's time from 2003
I doubt Tinman wanted him to run the first 800 in 2:13.
An amazing race in despite of the third world camera work.
He did shift his penis on live television however.
From Therunzone (tinman's website), a post by RunThe8 which is Drew Hunter's mother talkign about a profile piece on drew from this summer:
If anything, they didn't give Tom enough credit but I think that was because they interviewed me pretty early in the summer before Drew was into his summer build up. Tom is writing Drew's training this season, and probably for the whole year, which is way more than just "helping me" which is what he did in the past, usually when I was freaking out towards the end of the season ;D I was particularly freaked out last year as Drew had 3 big post-season meets right on the tails of the state meet, where we had to run him in 3 events in our effort to win the team title (which we did.) Tom handled the last few weeks of Drew's season this past summer BRILLIANTLY. Most of the high schoolers were fading, and Drew just kept getting better. This season, Drew is looking VERY good right now, running more than ever before, staying healthy. Can't wait to see what this year looks like.
Tinman is a great coach and has yet to be given his due credit. There are a lot of haters and just because he didn't come from a D1 institution and never ran 13:30 himself he is not well regarded. His coaching took me to a 2+ minute 3200 PR in high school and he has been there the whole way with Drew.
Way to go Tinman and Drew!
Hunter's leg muscles are extremely developed for an 18 year old. That's a ton of mileage.
On the positive side, he has shown himself to have very respectable mile speed for a guy whose future is at the long distances.

No, 14:35 on the Footlocker course is insane. 14:55 is normal.

At least you are giving him props for taking it out. We've been watching races year after year on the college and pro level and no one will push so thank God for him and Tiernan.
I'm not sure people have ever labelled him the GOAT but i think when it's all said and done he's going at least time wise be just off that. I don't expect a 353 and he's not a two-time FL champ but i certainly expect a sub-4..
Wasn't this guy mainly a sit and kick guy? To see him crush it was great.
Does anybody know if there is a place to find not only Footlock all-time results, but splits for those races? I'd love to know how Hunters 2:13/4:31 compare to other splits at the San Diego course...
New meet record for # of spectators that got a better recording of the race with their phone than Foot Locker did with an entire production crew.
