I go to middle school meets that have full results and scores up within minutes of when the last finisher crosses the line. Who gave these hack timing companies a pass?

Flotrack is not operating the timing of this meet, so they can only publish an electronic version of the results when it exists
That is a true statement. However, the delayed reporting it describes is not *live* results.
Prime Time Timing had a bunch of problems today and the results were delayed. It's not really a big deal, but yeah, Flotrack promised live results and did not deliver. In this case live results would be data from the timing mats shown in real time. We didn't get that today.
Again, not a big deal. I don't really think anyone expects Flotrack to be honest in their sensational advertising speak, but there were no live results today.
Do you think the man bun slowed Ches down a little?
The least Flotrack could do would be to notify people that there would be a delay.
Big race for UC Santa Barbara for 10th place. They took down #17 Louisville, #25 Southern Utah, and #30 Texas. Pretty good for a mid-major school without the budget of some of the teams in that race. With certain teams underperforming in the West region, perhaps we will see an underdog sneak through?
Surprised to see him rocking the man bun out there. I've always thought Cheserek was immune to most fads since he's a foreigner but it seems he is assimilating quite well to the Eugene atmosphere. Honestly that's the biggest news of PreNats but everyone is glossing over it including (surprise, surprise) FloTrack. Here's to hoping Rubis makes a post sometime soon about it.
Does the Ches man bun mean that he'll most likely be looking for US citizenship before the 2020 Olympics??

You are confusing "real time" and "live". Like I said before, the two usually coincide but not necessarily. Also, there is nothing sensational about providing live or real time splits. It was valid for Flotrack and us to assume the timing company would be prepared. It's like getting upset at a " 30 minutes or less" pizza delivery company because they were delayed by a car wreck, a funeral, or an earthquake.
What's the scoop on Thomas Curtin? Looks like this was a real breakthrough race for him.
Do you work for flotrack or something?? We get the English definitions. It was not "live" results. There is a reasonable grace period after a race to get results posted, and this was far beyond that window. Not flotrack's fault necessarily, but still not what was promised by them.
Should hire record timing. Guy has results up as they cross the finish line with splits and team scores as the race progresses.
Maybe next year give everyone a sticker and put it in a piece of cardboard. Might be faster.
Very impressive performance by Curtin. VT certainly has done well with a 9:10 guy out of high school. Curtin's race tactic was definitely a shock to a lot of viewers, and obviously to Cheserek as well.
Any pics of said man bun?
Also posted this in the Cuffe thread. "Injury precaution".
No Robert, i disagree.
With all of the available technogy, the lack of immediacy in results or a live stream or broadcast is just another reason why running struggles to catch anyones attention .
Only a handful of kids will be running xc in ten years.
Use your platform to improve the sport.
Do that now.
Everything is a shock to Ches. In the Flotrack interview posted, he said that the team goal at Pac-12 is to go there and defend their title. He's going to be very surprised to learn that Colorado has won Pac-12 every single year since the conference was formed/they joined.
Amazing. I've never actually bought into Oregon Clown College before, but now I get it.
Where was Bethan Knights? Cal ran without her. They really hurt their chances to get some NCAA qualifying points. Instead of finishing 11th they would have finished at worst 6th with Knights running. Nice run by their #2 runner, a freshman, Marissa Williams. They look like a potential darkhorse with Knights back and two solid freshman in their top 5.

Curtin's planned tactic was, as he said later, to hang with the leaders. He found himself in the lead because the pack was jogging. Curtin's pace for the first two miles (4:44/9:28) was slower than his average pace for the race as a whole.
As for Cheserek, he certainly heard the one mile split and knew he had gone through in 4:50 on a flat course. He could not have been "shocked" that someone was running faster than that.
Great run by Curtin but doesn't sound like Cheserek was focused on winning this race, rather working on team pack running.
Should have saved this strategy for nationals. Good luck trying it again and getting the field to fall for it.

Nope, you are the only one clinging to this defense of Flotrack. Everyone else understands that they promised something out of their control to deliver.
If Flotrack had written, "Results within 30 minutes of the race ending!" on their website that would be different.
