once i did this crazy workout in the woods... it was 3 sets of 20x400 in 62 or 63 with a 400 jog recovery, but the catch is, my training partner didn't tell me about the next set until i was done with the first one. that was crazy! i pissed blood, too.
Ladder theory applies to life, as well. Search google if you don't know what I'm talking about.
25 by 800 in 2:23-27.....2:00 recovery
I stand corrected. If your 200's were at 35 (70sec pace) with a 25 sec. rest and you were in great shape, it would be possible.

we did one like this in HS...obviously not as fast
any clue where it comes from?

it was on a grass field, not actually IN the woods...
Day 2 at Steens Mountain Running Camp.
Anyone who's been there knows what i'm talking about.
When i was 17 i did my hardest workout. 4 X 400m with 2 minutes between. 52, 52, 52 ,51. 2 x 200 in 25, 24. Went out two weeks later and at nationals on a saturday won the haet of 800m 1:56 . Came second in final a few hours later in p.r. 1:54.00. the next day came 2nd in 1500m in a p.r. 4:01.30. I reckon I had a lot more in me if I had just one race over that weekend. Broke my foot a days later and I have never run since. That was 4 years ago.
4*800 with a 800 meter jog. 2:00, 1:59, 1:59, 2:03.

How do you run at 87.5%?
Zatopek, Your correction has been noted. I almost fainted when I saw it on LR. You are a class act.
Please tell me this is a joke.
Stevenson- so you know about the old Eugene stuff, huh? Not the same there anymore...
Nothing nearly as tough as anyone here ...
Once I did pig out at Olive Garden, then followed it up with a 70 minute run about 3 hours later. I was miserable.
did what we call a salazar a few times. 1600, 2 min rest, 1600, straight into a 5 mile tempo, straight into a 1600. very beastful for a bad runner like myself. i managed a 504, 515, 29:00, 5:30. gotta love beating the shit out of yourself.
I remember the hardest workout I ever watched. It was by the legendary Paul Froelich. It was on the indoor track and he was doing 800's, during that workout I had never heard anything quite like his heroic whimpering. Personally speaking I don't believe I will do the workout justice so call him and ask him about it... 479 263 1729
I don't know why we did this workout for cross country, but we did...I am a freshman in college and just recently I did 16x400m with about 65-70 sec. rest in between. I ran no slower than 67 on them, hitting on an avg. 65/66. This workout was for pace work, but it still hurt. Hardest probably the toughest workout I've ran. I'm feeling hella fit from XC training though, and that workout is a good indicator of how I will do in track. Last year as a senior in H.S. I ran a 4:12 mile, and I couldn't do a workout like that. Not even close...the best I could do then was maybe 8x400m at 63/64 sec, but even then I was hurting bad. I'm anxious to see what kind of a 3000/3200m time I can post this year, but my main event is the mile and will be the 1500m. I choked last year in the mile because my coaches were jackoffs. Here's a workout I did last year... 4x400m, 2min. recovery at 56, 54, 55, 53. With that type of workout, what kind of a mile time should I most likely have ran?
