Good job pointing out Terek (and I agree with you that Symmonds is likely far from the T&F athlete best suited for this endeavor...heck, with the athleticism of a hurdler, Lolo may have been a better fit!). Part of what made Paul Terek's performance remarkable was that he is a big guy and it some of those upper body obstacles are tougher when you are hauling around that weight and muscle (though as a decathlete, that helps with the throws, obviously).
On twitter, LetsRun claimed not to have heard of ANW stating that they were more the American Gladiators generation. Anyone recall the short-lived reboot of that show that featured Breaux Greer?
All in all, I think this announcent from Symmonds isn't a very big deal since he will probably will not get very far on the show. Do you think NBC tried first to get Ashton Eaton? He showed some pretty good ninja skills this past weekend.
Here's hoping that Nick doesn't announce next year that he is going to try a tough mudder.
