What does she say just before that?

Espn jumped out this:
http://espn.go.com/olympics/trackandfield/story/_/id/11142115/pregnant-runner-alysia-montano-runs-800-meters-us-track-field-championshipsDoes it not bother you that they mention nothing about the actual race or winner? Have we gotten so "progressive" that a good story is more important in sports than winning? I tend to agree that it's a total look at me stunt which I hate but people eat this crap up so totally smart marketing/PR move. Still I would rather see more complete coverage than just this bs. But I guess that's why I come to LR so I can find out the real results.
No, it was the first round, of three, where they advanced more runners, 16, then they sent home, 13.
Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Kind of a waste of a hard run to only eliminate 3 and one of them being a preggo.
And DQing another one for ???
Damn I totally misread the numbers so the round wasn't a total waste. The stunt is not that big a deal but I still stand by my point that espn won't put anything else about t&f on the front page.
I'm just glad they didn't write about Vessay's stupid outfit. Montano is a five time champ, and this was a much cooler political statement than the usual hey look at my assets ploy.

B-Mart clammed up real quickly on that one!

Where was the world champs finish line dive?
Haha.
Seems a bit dicey to enter a race where you could very realistically get tripped up by another runner and take a fall, even if she only had other runners around her at the start. Although I don't know, maybe a womb is protective enough that injury to the fetus would be unlikely from a running fall.
Is running 7.5 months pregnant more or less challenging than running with a 40lb. weight vest? Some maths guy needs to run a conversion on this 2:32... we're easily looking at 1:57 basic!

she also saved her contract from a potential reduction, as it's been a few months (or more) since she ran a race, which means she needed to run one before Q2 ends, or she'd prob get a contract reduction. smart move on her part, and actually works well for asics, as they actually get some good press from it. ha, pretty awesome really!
I agree and think that she did it for the money. I have nothing against her for doing this, as she had the qualifying time. All I have to say is that the baby set a WR for fastest 800m by a fetus. LOL LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TTYL
Probably faster than I can run an 800m right now.
Definitely rooting against BMart now! Hope she doesn't find her kick in the finals! Go Alysia!

Brenda is trying to perform at the very highest level and there's a woman lining up next to her in no place to compete. This stunt may be a win for Montano and even a win for pregnant women, but it's a source of embarrassment for her competitors trying to win and show the world the US is for real.

Exactly. Sure Alysia generates some pub, but is this really the pub we want for our sport? Where good, serious competition is second fiddle to pregnant jogging.

Actually, your post makes YOU look like an idiot.
Do you even know the meaning of the word pretentious? What is her pretense - being pregnant? I am pretty sure that she wasn't hiding much out there and was pretty clear and earnest about being a slower-than-previous pregnant woman. Kind of the opposite of pretentious.
As for the "bad mother" piece, be careful with your anonymous judgements when you are clearly of imbecile intelligence. There is no harm in quickly jogging for 2.5 minutes at any point in pregnancy. Her child is enjoying a healthier pregnancy than 99.9% of mothers, certainly including yours when she was apparently addling your brain with various intoxicants.
I hope to one day be able to insult people as wellas you , that me lol

Not true, but even if it were that wouldn't be Alysia's fault.

Now, that IS Alysia's fault and I'm sure if she were here she'd offer you her sincerest apologies for having to deal with that very unfortunate situation.
