I don't know dkny64 at all, but after reading this post - several times - I'm concerned for him. Why get bent out of shape over something like this?
I had a time in college where I smashed my 1500 PR by five seconds in front of many friends and family and qualified for some big meets as a result and I'll tell you what- it felt amazing.
I can't imagine the euphoria of smashing a PR, breaking a monumental barrier, beating an accomplished field, winning money (probably for the first time) and all in front of hundreds of people screaming my name (plus Jim Ryun and Alan Webb). I'm sure nobody commenting on this thread can imagine it either because they've never done anything even similar.
Is this any different than Solinsky's 10,000m celebration? And please don't start with the cutting off of AJ, I won't accept that.
I appreciate your concern - I think I'll be ok.
As you point out, the guy had a great race in front of some all-time great milers and a bunch of his friends and fans. I hope it's the beginning of more great things for him.
I've said my piece about celebrating before the line. Since you brought up Solinsky, I will say that he started celebrating his 10000m AR AFTER he crossed the line. But it was a different circumstance since Solinsky was digging for every tenth at the end and just barely dipped under 27.
